That wasn't the issue, they're not matchmakers. They're not suppose make fights. The issue has been about over paying for fights that had an influenced promoter and/or adviser. Also giving blind dates to promoters.

Well that is still remains to be seen. Even though the fights that have scheduled are great fights and fights for us hardcore. If they don't receive a gain from their investment then is not money spent wisely.

Arum hasn't really gone to Showtime though. Gamboa just signed to fight Solis and it's going to be on HBO. That will be a top rank card. Also you have Montiel-Donaire on HBO another top rank card. So is not that Arum won't do anymore business with HBO. Say what you want about Arum he's not ******. And, really when it comes to the business of the sport he's much smarter than Greenburg and Davis. Lets face it there are no boxing guys running HBO boxing. The days of Dibella and Abraham are gone.

Granted I think Cotto PPV will suffer due to going against Martinez on HBO for free. However, no matter how crappy the Pac-Mosley fight is(because lets be real is a garbage ass fight and shame on Pac for going through with it) the fight will sell because of Pac name. And, you don't need to subscribe to showtime to buy his PPV's. So everybody who was going to buy it on HBO PPV will still buy it on Showtime PVV. So in that aspect it doesn't hurt at all.

Well they didn't have the boxing stars that HBO had. Now they arguably have the biggest star in the sport. And, make no mistake about it Showtime will make good profit out of the Pac-Mosley fight that they may increase their budget.

In recent years the gap has narrowed between the difference of subscribers from HBO and Showtime. HBO use to be in the mid 30mil subscribers, while Showtime was like in the very low 8 figures subscribers. But, now HBO is in the high 20mil, while Showtime is in the high teens-mill. So Showtime numbers have gone up while HBO has gone down.

Well it certainly isn't a bad move.

Unless you're talking about HBO. Then yes is not a great move losing your guaranteed biggest money maker in the sport to a rival network.

Matter of fact the Pac fight will hurt HBO pockets more so than it will everybody that is involved in that sorry excuse of an event.

Stop your *****ing and stop blaming HBO because it was Arum who didn't want Cotto to fight Martinez.
Very true I agree. I think HBO could of probably been more creative with the situation and really talked to Arum. But, Arum is very cranky, sensitive, greedy man.

Exactly. Im not a fan of berto recent opponents but dont sit here and talk **** like pac last 2(and now 3) will be against stiffs.

And i really dont see the problem with showtime gerting the mosley/pac fight. Would be the first time in a long time they had a big fight.

Question is, if pac/mosley does really well does bob keep him there?

HBO has bigger boxing budget that is true, but Showtime is like that kid with a rich parent (CBS).

While HBO has the bigger budget, Showtime has more resources and if CBS decides to open up more money for boxing......then they have the potential to blow HBO out the water.

Will that happen, I'm not sure, but people are really sleeping on Showtime and their potential in the sport of boxing.

Agreed. I'm not a huge fan of the move because I think HBO puts on a better show than Showtime but I am disgusted by this fight anyway so in this particular case I don't really care, I just hope Showtime doesn't get the really good fights.

hbo's so called bigger budget has been shrinking over the past couple years. the 2 highest rated fighters(pac and cotto) are gone now. you just dont let that happen if you got such a big budget.

You do if you don't think it is worth the resources, no matter how big their budget it is not unlimited.

When was the last time Manny was on regular HBO other than replays. Also Cotto by the numbers is a PPV fighter now also, so neither is really a lose for HBO proper since both guys have moved beyond.

Berto just fought a stiff for a couple of million and will most likely fight randall bailey. Stepping up my ass.
