I like this Showtime/CBS relationship. That is exactly what boxing needs, more exposure. I think this could be a good step towards increasng the popularity of boxing. I just wish Showtime would give Mike Tyson a chance as a commentator. Maybe not as a play by play guy, but perhaps something in a role like Max Kellerman on ESPN where he does like a pre-fight and post fight type of commentary. Its insane to me that neither network has ever tried to capitalize on the fact that when Mike Tyson talks everyone listens. As I said before I think Tyson would have a similar effect to these networks as Charles Barkley had for TNT, people sometimes tune in just to hear what Sir Charles is going to say next, and I think Mike would be the same if they gave him a chance. Anyways not trying to turn this into a Tyson thread, but these are amongst the steps I like for pushing boxing forward. Never understood why HBO was so greedy about putting some of their fights on CBS or NBC for fans to watch.

this post is full of win. i would love to see iron mike doing commentary works.
i hope somebody at showtime is a regular here at boxingscene.
Great step for boxing! CBS is a huge platform that can launch boxing to a higher level, it's a win-win for everyone involved. I'm a huge Pacman fan but the idiot who says Pacquiao is saving the sport...well, you're an idiot! Boxing has survived for over a hundred years and Pacman is just one fighter in a long line of historic fighters that has carried the banner.

It's not about HBO is being greedy. I don't think HBO is greedy at all and that is their problem. They need to be more greedy. They over pay for fights. And, the reason you don't see it on those networks. Is because they're not owned by those networks. CBS owns Showtime and Time Warner owns HBO. I guess you can say they can put it on basic cable on like TNT and/or TBS who are owned by Time Warner as well.
[QUOTE=Espada;9991720]Pacquiao is saving the sport. Remove Pacquiao from the List and Boxing will be an embarassme nt to the sports in terms of PPV buys.[/QUOTE
Not really, Floyd does better numbers but since he's gone we get another fixed Pacquiao fight. And if Pacquiao were saving the sport he would of choose a young undefeated prospect with a bright future instead of an old war horse on his last leg.
