Berto vs Ortiz should be at 145 or this should be the solution:

That doesn't sound like Ortiz has too much confidence in himself winning, presuming he wins he will have a belt and then its pretty much for sure he is staying at 147.

Its a big fight for both guys, Ortiz is almost fading into obscurity I feel and needs the win more than Berto right now who should be fighting a better fighters like Ortiz but even if fans hate him it won't kill his career to keep fighting bums.

There is no reason why this fight should be at 143 or 145. Ortiz rehydrates to over 155. And you are wrong, Berto doesn't rehydrate to 5 pounds over 147. Berto was 159 on fight night against Hernandez.

Ortiz- 156 on fight night against Peterson
Berto- 159 on fight night against Hernandez

No reason for this to be at a catch weight.

First of all that's one heck of a card I would pay for it in a heart beat. That being said Berto is the champ, and if Ortiz want his title it should be at the champs limit...

Why would Matthew Hatton be the main event? No one follows Matthew Hatton. It would have to be marketed as a big event as opposed to it being about a certain fighter...so maybe promote potential match-ups that will come from this event, etc

Victor Ortiz is just a journeyman now. In fact, HBO should not showcase his fights anymore. Andre Berto needs to defend his title against an elite fighter. No need to see him fight Victor Ortiz.

I'm a big Ortiz fan but I think a catchweight is silly for this fight. Ortiz is a huge Jr welterweight and if he were to beat Berto, it would put him in a huge position by not only being the guy who finally beat Berto but also being the WBC champ and a highly ranked welterweight.

Ortiz can barely make the 140 division, he should just man up and fight at 147, no catch weight needed!! Berto will KO his ass!!

what in God's name are you talking about?

you do know Manny's first fight as a welter was against a Junior Middleweight right?

and you do know that Cotto had the SAME number of fights (26) campaigning as 140lb fighter than Ortiz has had right (~26)?

and Cotto's first fight as an official welterweight was against the undefeated Carlos Quintana for the WBA title right?

I know Vic is your boy and all but at least come with some facts please

Screw that, if Ortiz wants to fight for a belt, he needs to go to 147

Because Hatton is not the card seller...the card seller would be Saul Alvarez lol You honestly think Khan would be able to outsell Canelo in the states? Hell nah!

You put the card like this

                      Ortiz vs Senchenko at 145
                      Berto vs Ayeden
                      Alvarez vs Hatton

and you'd be able to sell PPV's...Ortiz has a good following on the west coast and Alvarez has a good following in Mexico and in the western states probably internationally to...you also got Berto on the undercard...he could promote the fight on BET by getting on one of them shows like 106 N' Park as well...It would be a very good fight...and lets say if Ortiz and Berto do get W's then they could meet up in a mega fight on september 18th mexican independance day PPV...with Canelo on that same card...GBP just doesn't think right when it comes to money I mean why waste money making useless PPV's no one will buy and making HBO fights that won't get made cuz of money problems? Just PPV them together and the problem is solved...
