What an angry old man this Ricardo is. Of all people, he shouldn't be the one to talk regarding "shot" and "retiring".....and that's a bad mindset to have of Cotto coming into this fight. Miguel's a very dangerous fighter with a good trainer. Mayorga will be the one to retire after this fight.

Yeah, you're right, it's not an easy fight for Cotto, sure, but it would have been a bigger pay day and more attractive to fans. I'm not sure if Cotto would have preferred it more than this fight with Mayorga, I don't know. Otherwise, I can't really fault Arum for it.

I like Miguel, always have. Some will disagree, but I think he's a warrior. He's taken two bad losses and won a very challenging fight in the last couple of years. Those beatdowns and battles age a fighter very quickly, sometimes overnight. If I were Cotto's manager, I'd like to save him the next big challenge as his potential last fight. Choosing Mayorga as his next opponent plays into that strategy. Fighting Margarito next does not. That'll be another war, for sure. Oh well, at least the fans would gobble that one up.

Mayorga was shot when he was in his prime....he is a crude fighter, who will melt under the studied onslaught of Cotto....instead of he saying that he will beat him like Margarito, I think Mayorga will get beaten like he was against DeLaHoya....worse.
