with the right mentality and gameplan, yes, Haye could do it, but Haye doesn't have the heart that Brewster hasHe wasn't comparing himself to arreola, only pointing out than arreola failed cos he trudged forwards winging slow ponderous punches, whereas brewster had good, practiced footwork and fast hands and knocked him out!!. David Haye would do the same to Wladimir, Vitali is a different case thoughComment

That was 2004, Vlad is a whole different fighter todayComment

What blueprint??
I guess you never saw the fights, Brewster took a beating, he just landed the right punch and then finished Wlad.
Brewster had power, and balls, props to him, but I don't know about what "blueprint" you re talking about.Comment

Really it was more Wlad's mistake of punching himself out and going for the ko before Brewster was ready to go that aided Brewster in that win.
This fight is why he fights at such a measured pace now I think.Comment

Man, Brewster doesnt know what he's talking about. The people who have had the most success of Wlad simply lasted...thats it. They stayed alive long enough for Wlad to tire himself out, or in Sanders case we saw how a hard hitting southpaw could get to the chin of Wlad and how Wlad at that time had not perfected a great defense against such a fighter. He used to fight as if he wanted to be 6'1...he would crouch and hit guys, now he stands straight, and fires from a distance. Brewster was lucky that the first fight wasnt stopped in the 4th. Wlad punched himself out and whether it was poison, a horrible cutman, or simply exhaustion Wlad was done. He could barely stand, at times you saw him just leaning on the ropes.
If Brewster had all the tapes...why did he fail miserably in the rematch? That dont make no sense....He had all the tapes, he had the footwork of a young Hugo Reyes, why? Why would he struggle in the second fight...oh yeah cause he couldt last and Wlad doesnt punch himself out. I look at that Chambers fight and it shows the main difference. Old Wlad would have tried to KO Chambers in the 3rd round. 9 times out of 10 he would have succeeded. New Wlad just wants to win and has to be begged to finish chambers.
Also the biggest misconception in boxing is that Floyd is a coward...the second is that the Klitschko's are twins and the exact same. In fact, to me, boxing is about matchups and I dont think any fighter in the history of boxing would match up favorably to both of them in their prime, because they are so different. Vitali you do not want to pressure. He loves the pressure. Heck with Vit, the most success Ive seen people have is when he's pressuring and he over extends himself. Vit is a bad man, hes the baddest man on the planet right now, theirs no denying it. If you come at him, if you pressure him...its game over for you. A guy like Frazier would get beat so badly by Vitali its not funny.
Vitali's game plan: If you pressure: lean back to take power off yoru shots, tire you out, counter, hit while you're coming in, avoid clinches to make you tire even more. If you do clinch...he will put his whole wait on you.
If you dont pressure. hit you froma distance, get you down on the cards, so later you have to pressure, and then he does his initial plan. Either way he loves to be pressured. Thats what he wants.
So no, I dont think Brewster knows waht hes talking about. I think hes a guy who got extremely lucky, thats about it.Comment

The blood tests after the fight showed Wlad to have abnormally high levels of insulin in his system. The test results were later "lost" by the clinic he went to.
Coincidentally or not, Don King laid down a massive wager on Brewster just before the fight. Rumors on the street were that Wlad was "slipped the mickey" before the fight.
The insulin levels subsided enough a few hours later that Wlad was able to drive home.
So maybe that helped Brewster more than his great footwork.
And what happened to his footwork in the rematch, LOL?
Since that fight, the Klitschkos are very careful about access to the water bottles in the dressing room.Last edited by ChopperRead; 01-19-2011, 09:27 AM.Comment

Also, LOL @ Brewster. His "blueprint" was to get hit in the face repeatedly by Wlad until Wlad tires himself out, there was no blueprint, he got lucky, just like Purrity got lucky. The only man to truly beat Wlad was Sanders because Wlad took him lightly and didn't prepare, kind of like Lewis vs Rahman I, except Wlad wasn't laid out cold for a 10 count.Comment
