The WBC had to strip Martinez. No way in hell Chavezjr had even the slightest chance against him. Man, they sure are determined to make him a champion, by hook or crook.

I see where U'r coming from cause Lewis did turn out to be a great fighter & a well deserved Hall of Famer... But in My opinion just giving Lewis the title was not the way to go about it, Lewis should have fought the next in line for the vacant title...But after that lewis did fight everyone there was except Bowe(well as a pro cause in the amateurs Lewis did beat Bowe by TKO2 in the 1988 Seul Olyimpics to win the gold) & by looking at the way Lewis ended his career compared to Bowe, I think Lewis would have beaten Bowe again this time in the profesional level...Comment

I'm saying this dude is a bum. He will never amount to greatness or anything special. He's living off his father's name. Such a shame people pay to watch this fool fight. I bet if he didn't get fed with a silver spoon this mofo would have hunger alright. FRAUD!!Comment

Sad thing is, as absolutely crappy as Zbik is, he may be minimally good enough to narrowly outpoint Chavez Jr. Then Universum can promote him as having beaten a "legend" and he can spend the next 10 years defending against bums in Germany. Perfect scenario for a Universum fighterComment

and this whole WBC sham to put a worthless belt on Jr plays itself out, wouldn't be surprised if Zbik gets paid to take a dive or is robbed either in the fight when it happens.Comment

i thought jr wanted to fight martinez for his belt? why does he suddenly want to fight zbik? oh i have an ideaWBC silver middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (41-0, 30KOs) has to take care of business on January 29 in Culiacán, Mexico, when he faces American boxer Billy Lyell at Estadio Banorte. Chavez has vowed to win in order to further the negotiations for a possible title fight with unbeaten Sebastian Zbik (30-0, 10KOs). Chavez is now the mandatory challenger to Zbik, who was elevated to full champion status by the WBC on Tuesday.
