    I don't think Lewis was over ratted, i think allot of people in Boxing were jealous of him and underrated him. His personality worked against him, he was smug, and people were jealous

      I love this thread.

      The only person who even put up a decent arguement was 2ndIInone. He at least broke down WHY he thought Lewis was overrated. EvilSaint merely tried to critiscise Lewis' chin.

      Nobody else put up a fight. The just jumped on the overrated bandwagon.

        It's because the majority of these people don't really know anything about boxing.Except ...hey their punching each other lets watch.Real boxing fans who are intelligent about boxing break a fighter down when they watch a fight.Looking to see hey is this guy skilled? does he have what it takes to be a champ?things like that.

          [[[No. You have to face the facts. 4-2 is how I scored the fight, Lewis landing over 50% of his power punches and was displaying the better overall effective agression. Many of VK's punches landed on Lennox's gloves. Klitschko was also getting nailed with right hands and holding on from weak legs.]]]
          ================

          The judges had it 4-2-1 for Vitali and all the fans obviously agreed. Vitali had Lewis on drunken legs such that Lewis' corner exhibited the best eye to hand coordination of the fight just moving his stool around to catch his wobbling oversized rump between rounds.

          The replays showed it was a missed right hand whose grazing tape sliced open Vitali's eye. Vitali had never been cut before, and it was a legit punch which gave Lewis some life and hope, enough that in the sixth round he illegally held down Vitali by the head and delivered a series of uppercuts which opened it up further and then sandpapered Vitali's eye with his dreads on the ropes. It was Vitali who closed out the final round with a crisp combo and Lewis who wobbled back to his stool.

          Lewis won a fair fight on the doc's stoppage, but you sure have a way of cheapening his victory in a fight he was losing. We saw how he then sold 2nd part of his belts to Don King and retired rather than face his mandatory for his last belt, the WBC one.

          When you consider that Lewis is the first fighter in heavy history to vacate all three of his belts rather than face his mandatory, well, it's an ignoble end to an otherwise great career. Pity he and you muddied up his legacay.

          As far as Vitali's face goes, well you saw Rocky's face when he KOed Charles didn't you? Vitali would have killed Lewis, cut eye or not had the fight gone on. Lewis was done, knew he was done, and wisely retired after being required and guaranteeing Vitali a rematch, end of story.

              smug was part of it, along with quiet, private, and he didnt do ****** **** to get in the spotlight (like tyson always did) He wasnt overrated in my opinion either. He had a great style and had alot of class outside of the ring, which is where so many found fault with him.

                  And by the way, no Lewis wasnt overrated. He got KO'd by unremarkable opponents, but he beat them back.

                      Don't think he is quite overrated as he is deservedly under appreciated. The fact of the matter is he ducked Vlad for outrageous money. That will be my lasting memory of Lennox as well as many boxing fans.
