Question for those who dislike Amir Khan...

If you really think about it though - JMM at 140 isn't ridiculous. I mean, i personally don't want Khan/Alexander/Bradley to fight JMM, but most boxing fans said JMM-Pac @ 140 is good (but not at 47), and Pac is better then Khan/Bradley/Alexander so ...
At least we've found common ground Di Bushbaby - we've disagreed on almost everything for a while lolComment

Will you have respect for him should he fight/beat the winner of B vs A ?
I ask because having read some people’s posts on here, i am amazed at the negative comments made about him.
Now i am indifferent, a good performance is a good performance in my book, as a good fighter is a good fighter.
I had big questions regarding AK’s chin, and was very, very impressed with how he answered that question against Maidana – the hardest hitting boxer at 140
So, I ask, what exactly has Khan done wrong here?!
I struggle to comprehend why people would continue to abuse other than to evoke argument in the comfort of their own homes. Childish, eh?
Please, genuinely, what is your problem with Amir Khan?
racists hate him cause he's pakistani
some idiots hate him cause he's ******
some dummies hate him cause he's with roach
some hate him cause he got KTFO by prescottComment

For some reason he just has that x factor that provokes strong reactions either way. Can't put my finger on it but in the UK especially he provokes both positive or negative reactions depending on who you talk to and it is very rare that it is in the middle.
I think one of the main reasons is that his talent far surpassed his actual accomplishment for a long time and that can create hype and jealousy, and I definitely think it created jealousy among other british fighters as he was coming up. I can understand it when a fighter like jon thaxton who has had to work real hard to get where he got to in this game and here comes this kid making huge pay days and wasn't being challenged. But I think the one thing that everyone overlooked was the enormity of khan winning an Olympic silver medal at 17, that accomplishment was what gave him an easy ride in the early stages of his pro career, and rightfully so he was the first 17 year old to win a silver or gold at the Olympics since floyd patterson, and the Brits don't exactly have a history of producing medals in boxing...much less a 17 year old boy.
Why take a risk with him when he was drawing such huge crowds and still learning the pro game? It was like the world had suddenly woken up to matchmaking and it was especially highlighted because khan had the spotlight on him from the start, when the truth is that other british fighters had just as much of a soft ride as khan did through those early years ie. Hatton, and calzaghe, in fact they probably had it considerably easier. At this point in his career you can't fault the kid, he has gone over to the US younger than any other british fighters I can remember, and has got a good resume. But he will always have doubters simply because his talent and potential suggest that he can fight even higher in level, so there will always be people who say he can't do this...no way he'l beat him...he'l get knocked out when he moves up to welterweight...the kid just provokes reactions, but such talent always has.
I have to say though I have never seen a 17 year old amateur as good as khan, when I watch his olympic performances on youtube it still catches me out and shocks me.Comment
