I think the Pacquaio Cotto faced @ 145lbs... Is a different animal than the tender fighter Juan Marquez faced back in the good old days. A fight today between Juan Marquez and Manny would not be as competitive as it once was. Manny wins big.

the fight with JMM vs pac was in 08 manny vs cotto was 09 not much can change in 1 year i agree JMM vs pac is pointless not but only cuz JMM is already 37 and the end of his career and he can't be competitive above lightweight but JMM is still better then cotto

Even if that's true (which it is) wouldn't you admit that Cotto got controversial decision wins over Mosley and Clottey? The general consensus among Cotto fans to their credit is most of them do think that Cotto barely beat Clottey. But a lot of them claim he beat Shane Mosley convincingly. Now I'm going by what Cotto said, he said close decision wins. He sounds a little more humble than some of his fans.

I have the cotto vs mosley fight on tape and cotto won by at least 2rounds. On top of that after the fight mosley admitted he lost mosley hit cotto with his best punches and never even hurt cotto. Cotto controlled the fight the whole night. Even the last 2 rounds when cotto was boxing backin up he landed more punches and won those rounds. Now in the clottey fight which I also have cotto scored a knock down in the first or second round Cotto was cut over his eye I believe in the third round and was basically a one eyed fighter from then on. The fight was even going into the eleventh round as I saw it and clottey did absolutly nothing to win the 11th and 12th rounds which are the championship rounds. Cotto won the. Last two rounds therefore winning the fight. Credit to cotto for not quitting due to the bloody eye. Cotto is one of the greatest fighters of this era

A little history for you. Cotto fought Kelson pinto when he was still coming up and making name for himself plus he got his payback from when he lost to him before he went pro. And the Jennings fight was a tune up before Clottey. As far as Quintana they both had 0 losses and Quintana was even more popular than Cotto at the time. So what about his other opponents? Cotto has fought the best so stop the bull****.

That was Bob Arums mistake thinking Cotto was done and trying to use him as a stepping stool for his ***ish fighter. Besides he just took an ass whooping from Manny so its reasonable that he has at least a tune up fight before getting into another tough battle. I know your going to mention Mayorga and I agree that fight should not happen but he hasn't fought in almost a year, but they could have gone with Berto who is overrated in my opinion but can give Cotto a good fight.
