But please, let's not act like he did it against Bob Foster.

And match making has a lot to do with why B-Hop became what he was. He was beaten quite easily by Roy Jones in their first fight. Then, he basically feasted on a weak division, fighting the same sorry contenders over and over again, until as star welterweight came up to fight him. Then after the Tito win, he priced himself outta a rematch with RJ and then agreed, then priced himself outta a fight with Toney. All while waiting for another blown up welterweight star in de la hoya to come up and fight him. After losing the middleweight strap, he stepped up and IMO put on his career defining opponent beating Tarver. But then, he settled back into fighting smaller guys. Wink moved up two divisions. He lose the title to Calzage in Slappy's light heavy debut. Then, he beat Pavlik, who was moving up two divisions. IMO, B-Hop has done a great job of being patient, staying in shape, and luring smaller stars up to fight him. And because of it, he's probably a little overrated historically.
all very good points. but pascal beat the man viewed as the best light heavy and that was dawson..so pascal became the man and was a young fast hard hitting stud and 18 years younger.

what hopkins did at near 46 was spectacular.

i understand dlh was undersized but i dont think tito was. when you age your body fills out, i think tito was outclassed by skill and smarts, not a size advantage at all. bhop went up and fought tarver at tarvers weight and dominated. yes pavlik, whom im a huge fan of, went up two weight classes, but its not like he walks around at 163, he walked around at around 175 and at times in the 180s. hopkins out classed and skilled him there as well.

this last time out pascal was not a smaller weaker opponent or one coming up.

Pascal is the top light heavyweight. But, the light heavyweight division is weak. I mean, Mzonke Fana and Ricky Burns are rated #1 and #2 by The Ring. If they fight and crown a 130 champ, would JMM beating the winner be a great win? I think not because the division is weak. The same deal with light heavy. Just because Pascal has a belt doesn't erase that he's probably no better than a B level fighter.

As for B-Hop beating smaller guys. Personally, I'm not one of these fans that bashes guys for fighting smaller opponents. I mean, that's only became a big issue recently because Mayweatehr has a couple big wins over guys moving up. Until then, it wasn't that big a deal. And for B-Hop, I give him full credit for the wins he had over Tito and DLH. And since he's basically a career middleweight, I don't have an issue with his fights with Wink, Calzage, and Pavlik. I thought they were great wins. The onyl thing I was pointing out was that matchmaking has been a big part of his success.

i agree pascal is a B fighter, lots of holes in his game
i think dawson crushes him in a rematch.
i also think bhop should get that rematch first because he put on the better performance and deserves it more.
then bhop vs chad would be a great matchup.

If they were the same size Bhop would win because he is too skilled Manny would not know how to penetrate a fighter like Bhop and would get picked apart , look closely at Mannys opponets in the bigger weights , all faded ,all slow, most coming of losses all advantages to Manny fromCWs to enormous ring sizes , all just a coincidence or very carefull matchmaking , and now the fastest and most skilled is Mosley and they waited untill he has shown twice that he has nothing left , Arum is cherry picking milking and manipulating the system and the young fans swallow it all .

If Shane lands the same bomb that he did against Floyd... Manny is going to need an alarm clock... Other than that, Manny should UD him 7 rounds to 5. Shane is just too easy to hit and has terrible defense.. Manny's defense is not very good either but it is better than Shane's.
