this guy hating on lara big time, who is this vanes' bf or something? lara didnt struggle against perez or luciano he beat them easily he just didnt knock them out, did he even lose more than a round in either one of those fights? give me a break. The brewer fight was the only one that didnt go as smooth as they had wished, but still he fought brewer with only 9 fights who the f takes that type of risk nowadays. not to mention now that he has a rel trainer he looks like he is improving rapidly

James DeGale? Just a few months ago.
But, anyways I don't think Jake is hating at all. If you read the 2nd line he mentions "depending on the viewpoint, it's either a good thing or a waste of time and talent." Which could be true depending on the view point.
And, Jake never said he struggled against those opponents. But, struggled to win in IMPRESSIVE fashions against those opponents. And, I agree with Brewer and Danny Perez that even though he won, he didn't win impressively.
I think some had criticism cuz' of how Lara stepped up against Brewer and Danny Lopez and he passed the test but instead of keep on fighting that level of competition. That instead they went and started fighting a level of comp's way way below in the last 4 fights.
Which is true. Maybe his handlers got nervous or whatever I don't know. Maybe they felt they were rushing him and decided to take it easy. But, again that is "depending on the viewpoint."
However, Lara fighting the winner of Alvarez-Trout in April is a good move and a step in the right direction IMO.
The only line that I didn't like in Jake article was "Some been fooled by the con job." I don't really see a con job. But, I don't know what he means by it.

Thank you. Glad you understood what I was getting at.
To clarify the "con job" part - that his handlers are trying to sell him as this knockout artist when in fact he's a very, very talented boxer. Not that Lara is a con as a prospect -he's not, in fact he's one of the best young fighters in the sport.
But he' s not the type of fighter they're attempting to promote and sell on the public, and these fights aren't teaching him anything.
Facing the winner of Alvarez-Trout is definitely a huge step in the right direction, I agree. I don't get why he moved so far backwards after Brewer and Perez. He should've at least been on the Shobox level. Alvarez-Trout is beyond that, so credit to him for making up for lost time. Hopefully we've forever seen the last of fights like this.

In what ways has he improved since the Danny Perez fight? What opponent among this current bum streak has revealed any new tricks in his arsenal?
For the record, I was perfectly fine with the outcomes in his fights against Brewer and Perez. What I was saying in the article is that apparently his handlers weren't, since he's been matched insanely soft in his past four fights.
One gimme after the stretch he had would've been perfectly acceptable. But four in a row, for a fighter as talented as he is?

I think it's time to throw the dude to the big dogs. He's asking for big fights. And I think Lara wants them. But it's his handlers that are holding him back like you are alluding to. Hell I've heard Lara and his handlers go as far to call out Angulo. So I very much doubt they are afraid to throw Lara in a tough fight, but I could be wrong I suppose.

Thank you for the clarification. I see what you're saying and I agree with that.
