Only one person mentioned Ketchel. Ketchel was in the top 20 by ESPN.com legendary 2007 top 50 boxers of all time(I know a lot of people use the list as a source). Now, sure Greb, Pep, Walker, and Marciano are higher but when you dig deeper you can make a strong case for it. First off Marciano gets a lot of love because of his record but Ketchel had an equal/better resume and one of his two losses was to another top 15 fighter of all time in Jack Johnson, where Johnson outweighed him by about 30lbs. As for Walker I think having him infront of Ketchel is a disgrace. Dude was a club fighter. I don't favor Ketchel as the top white american but you can debate it much better than a Rocky Marciano.

        My list would be

        1. Harry Greb
        2. Willie Pep
        3. Stanley Ketchel
        4. Benny Leonard
        5. Gene Tunney

Marciano isn't even in the top 5, imo. I know it isn't happening but I wish white Americans would show interest in the sport again. P4P white Americans have just as much stranglehold on the greatest boxers of all time as African Americans do.

How is Ketchel greater than Leonard and Tunney? I don't see anyway that can be justified, I don't think hes greater than Marciano either but thats debateable.

Right now, Jason Litzau. Pavlik is done. Malignaggi is pretty much done too. Litzau is coming off two decent wins over Caba and Juarez.

I jumped the gun on Tunney. I'd put him at number 3 and Ketchel at number 4. I think Ketchel is greater than Leonard because of his fights with some legends. He beat Jack O'Brien 3 times(I think but I'm not positive) and had a very close fight with Langford. Held his own against Jack Johnson till he knocked him down too. Also, I know hypotheticals are usually bull**** in the ranking but you gotta say something for a kid being murdered in his prime. Leonard is a good fighter and has tons of fights but off the top of my head I couldn't name a single all time great that he duked it out with. Just my 2 cents.

Dundee, Welsh, Ritchie, Kilbane, Kansas and Tendler amongst many contenders in one of the deepest LW eras, his longevity alone was great not to mention a draw with Lewis. As for Ketchel "held his own against Jack Johnson" really isn't saying much when they agreed to make it an exhibition to make money, the knockdown is a testament to his punching power - nothing more. The manjority of reports on the Langford fight had Sam winning and that he could've knocked him out when he wanted to but they made an agreement prior to the bout that it would go to decision and they would have a rematch. He beat Philly Jack twice but awesome wins nonetheless. Ketchel is definately an ATG but there is no way you should credit the guy based on him dying young, a tragedy - sure, an addition to his ranking - no.

White America isn't into boxing like it was in the first half of the 1900's. Back then it was the most popular sport along with baseball..
