I love how Dibella is justifing the "showdown" of a Berto/Ortiz fight. Ortiz hasn't even fought a WW yet and his last outing against Peterson I don't give him much of a chance against Berto.

Anybody who says this fight is any good needs to have their head examined. If Berto is as good as HBO has made him out to be, he should blow through Ortiz like it's nothing. This is the same guy who got a draw with feather fisted Lamont Peterson who Bradley totally man handled outside of the first two rounds of their fight. Berto will remain a question mark until he fights better opponents.

But, Ortiz is still a Mexican Amreican fighting at a Mexican influenced city like Los Angeles. Not only that he is from Garden City Kansas but was based out of Oxnard for awhile when the fight went down. So again I don't get your point?

And, LA has been more of a boxing town in recent years than STL has. So again I don't get your point.

What are you saying? That Ortiz deserves to fight Berto cuz' he is a draw? OR that HBO should pay more because Ortiz is a bigger draw than Bradley or Alexander?

No Im saying that Victor is a legitimate opponent for Berto. He's probably naturaly bigger than Berto and he's not a comeforward face first boxer. Vic is an all around technical boxer with good hand speed and he's a murderous puncher which is another important thing. He's outgrown the division and he was gonna move to welter eventually anyways so whats all the negative Nancy talk about him fighting Berto?

Him being draw was just an added incentive to why he's a good opponent for Berto.

I don't know if he is naturally bigger than Berto. I mean Berto has fought as high as MW. I think people forget that. They also forget that Berto fought Dirrell(who is now at 168) in the amateurs. And, I think the fought in the MW division. Berto won but means nothing in the point. The point is that Berto naturally is a big guy. And, naturally IMO bigger than Ortiz.

I don't know if I would call Ortiz a "murderous puncher" that is like a Bob Arum hyperbole statement to me but whatever.

And, what has Ortiz done? Besides proving senior citizens can't beat him and that he can't beat any prime top 10-15 contender? Maybe that is where the Nancy talk comes from perhaps?.

Well if Junior middleweights are willing to go down to 147 then I will say that there are some junior middleweights can be perceived as better than Ortiz. Cintron being one of them. I would agree if Berto would have to go up to 154 but if the fight is at 147, at WW, then what is the problem?

Aydin sucks but he is more worthy of that fight than Cintron. Hernandez also was more deserving. It's principle, no one should get a title shot next time out when their previous fight ended with an olympic dive and gymnast floor routine. The only guy less deserving of the title fight is Clottey, didn't you bring his name up...........Again I wouldn't expect you to understand worthy and principle. Based on that sig.

Personally since cotto won't happen I would like jones to get a shot or berto to fight zaveck and unify some titles.

Ortiz hasnt done **** at ww to deserve a title shot at 147. If this was Berto's first time against a jrww in his first fight at 147 it would be different but the guy has a belt at 147 and is defending it against 140lb guys and cab drivers.
