    this is a good matchup.
ortiz is taller and packs on some weight on fight nights.
but if ortiz is still gunshy, berto will run right through him.
this would be a good test to see if ortiz can really take shots, we all know what happened with maidana, and robert garcia says he hates getting hit. having an all out war w/ berto will prove those thoughts wrong imo.
still, i think berto takes it. if this happens, berto should shut kermit up and then jones.
sounds like a good fight, hopefully it happens.

I don't think too highly of Berto, especially his choice of opponents, but I see Ortiz getting stopped.

Berto has a suspect chin and stamina, I can see Ortiz exploiting his chin, but he won't be able to exploit Berto's stamina because he has suspect stamina himself. Ortiz' heart is as weak as it gets though and it will ultimately come into question again. His body language in the Peterson fight was terrible, and Lamont isn't even much of a power puncher, what makes it even worse, is he kept hitting Ortiz with the same step back counter and he couldn't adjust.

I can see Berto having tons of trouble early, but the kid showed heart in his loss to Collazo, so I see him being able to withstand Ortiz' first half assualt and landing the right hand on Ortiz until Victor's had enough.

I remember being so excited for this potential fight back when Ortiz still had that fire in his eyes that Maidana blew out.

And after watching Berto struggle with Collazo, I was thinking, Ortiz is better than Collazo, he should do well with Berto.

Now I'm thinking "Ortiz ready for another KO loss... Damn"

Ortiz is three times more of a dynamic fighter than Soto-Karass. (Not knocking S-K, he's a good fighter) But he's very basic and only has about one way to win. PRESSURE. He had an absolutely exhausted Mike Jones who froze under the spotlight AND Soto-Karass still couldn't pull it off.

Berto isn't much of a pressure fighter and Ortiz can box as well as punch. It's a tad more intriguing than your allowing yourself to believe. It could be a snoozer or it could be high-speed chess. But one thing it won't be is Berto on his bike pot-shotting at a slower Soto-Karass that only hung with Mike Jones because he shot his wad in the 2ND ROUND!
Soto brings to the table the exact thing that gave Berto so much trouble against Collazo,Pressure and toughness..IMO Soto stops Berto,Berto has a questionable heart and stamina..Soto is a hard puncher and applys a lot of pressure we will never see Berto fight this kind of fighter because this is one of the styles that will give Berto a lot of problems a tall pressure fighter who could punch..We also won't see a Cintron fight because he is a big puncher who can box as well..Just face it Berto is a joke and not looking to. Take any risk..

Not for nothin, but this could be a very interesting fight. I have a feeling Ortiz is going to feel stronger at 147. People shouldn't sleep on this fight.

Ortiz will be a better welter than junior welter. So will Khan, for that matter.

I agree with most everything you said but you comparing Soto-Karass to Collazo is just not one of them. Luis Collazo is a slicker southpaw fighter that mixes it up and has toughness. Luis can box and fight. Watch what he did to Hatton, boxed and ****** than spun off and started again.

Soto-Karass just trudges forward like a Margarito without the punching power even without the loaded gloves. If he was the big of a puncher he would have had no problem stopping an untested, dog tired Mike Jones who fought the worst fight of his life.
