Hopkins was being interviewed about Pacquiao and Mosley and he made a comment about most african americans being athletic.

Not like he made it up!

Ok......but if a white fighter ( who to him race is important) makes those comments though.......the whole world would cave in on his ass and would have him ostracized..........

so it can't be that simple....

Bernard is a boxing purist. As are many of the guys in that Philly boxing culture. They respect certain TYPES of fighters.

I believe it is as much about the STYLE as it is RACE with Hopkins.

...and he is a bit angry and racist.

I certainly don't think so. He also said in the same statement that there are some black guys that can't even tie their own shoes!

I think clearly because of hopkins past "I'll never lose a whiteboy" Calzaghe pre-fight hype comment, people are taking this way out of context. He didn't say anything derogatory to anybody. Just made a simple comment that most african americans are athletic.

And of course that simple remark sparked a 50+ page thread.

Yes but that's because other ethnicities are allowed to be proud of their race, whites are not.

That would have been a much MUCH more viable succinct argument.... I would actually agree with that theory...

A white fighter can't claim whites are superior in boxing, so yes, if one did it would RIGHTFULLY cause an uproar.

Now if a white hockey player stated that whites were DOMINANT hockey players I doubt it would get any attention at all. Blacks certaintly wouldn't give a damn.

It's only when a BLACK MAN says something about superiority (in any way) does it become FRONT PAGE HEADLINES.

Also when a black man mentions race in any facet, it seems to bring out the inner racism in most white males. Just check the threads on NSB for evidence.
