Any retirement after age 35 is fair game.
Marciano, Tunney and Dempsey retired much earlier. None of them are as good as Calzaghe.Comment

That could have been said if he actually fought the guys that fans wanted him to fight.
Instead of fighting undefeated prime Pavlik who was calling him out, undefeated Chad Dawson who called him out like a gentlemen, or Glen Johnson who was also calling Calzaghe out. Either of those 3 would have been a nice farewell fight.
Instead he fights a way-past prime and shot Jones, that no one was interested in obviously you can tell by the PPV numbers. Hopkins gets the credit for taking Pavlik's 0 a fighter who was willing to move up to 175 to fight Calzaghe and Calzaghe would have beaten him but was too scared. Pascal takes Dawson's 0, Johnson a very winnable fight for Calzaghe, he ducked him too.
I mean damn, you had 3 legit guys that could have been way better farewell wins than a faded Jones and he ducks all 3 of them. That's like Floyd being called out by Williams, Paquiao and Mosley, but instead of fighting Mosley, he chooses....the 2010 Erik Morales
It would be laughable. I'd disown Floyd if he did that.Comment
