Hopkins might be a legend but at no point was he any kind of a cash cow, in the states Pascal/Dawson does poorly, Pascal/Hopkins does slightly better but not great. Pascal is the ticket seller with two guys who can't sell tickets up in Montreal so it would be in his best interest I would think to see if he can get this Chad rematch out of the way, drop his strap and maybe fight Hopkins later.
viewership for dawson fights is consistently crappy. dawson v johnson 2 was the lowest rated world championship boxing event ever. (774,000)

the gate for dawson tarver was $170,280. they paid 3.2 mil for the fight.

while bhop was not a big draw before, right now he is a bit of an attraction being the oldest person fighting for a title. i have a feeling the bhop pascal fight did excellent rating and I remember hearing it somewhere.

I guess then that is the choice that Pascal is going to make whether he will make so much more with Hopkins again that it will be worth the legal trouble when he breaks a contractual agreement.

Agree though even if I like Dawson that he can't draw for shit.

Personally, I just think Chad never had the skills to begin with. His problems started showing up in his fight VS Adamek where he came close to being KO'd.

            I know you like him.

I have no idea what will happen, but if HBO doesn't pick up Dawson-Pascal, the smart move for Pascal is to take the Bhop fight. Litigation could take years.

Dawson has the skills and toolset to be the best in the business, but I question whether he has the 'win at all costs' mentality to go with it?

You can get away with poor performances against tough but old fighters like Tarver and Johnson, however when a young bull is in the opposite corner who wants the belt more than you do, it's much harder to put your skills into practice. That's Dawson's problem in a nutshell. He is not a go getter, and may never be one. He has to get that fire in his belly back. Who knows, maybe the money and the success did go to his head?

rooting for dawson, pascal, and cloud to knock nard out the box and get a round robin tournament going to see who the real champ @ 175 is...right now pascal has the belts and brings the real $ here...cloud and dawson still have time to cultivate bigger fan bases if they stay focused in the ring....hopkins winning anything would just set the division back into the stone age...

                    That's Dawson's fault? Last time I checked, Dawson-Johnson I was a really good fight.

Dawson-Tarver II debacle was all on HBO. (By the way, why did that fight happen? Contractual obligation for immediate rematch. )

BHop is by no means an attraction.

Co-sign, I like Chad, he's leaving the talking up to his promoter. I think he just had an off night, Bernard never wanted any parts of him. I hope Pascal honours the contract.
