Comments Thread For: Haye's Conqueror Thinks David Will Not Retire This Year

Manchester's Carl 'The Cat' Thompson upset the applecart by handing David Haye, then 10-0 (10), his sole professional career defeat back in 2004. Thompson took a lot of punishment early in the contest before turning things around to register a fifth round stoppage win. Haye, out-gunned during the last two rounds of the fire fight, was stopped on his feet; the brash Londoner was still motioning his opponent forward even as referee Terry O’Connor halted the contest.

The writer neglects to mention that Haye now refuses to fight Vitali.

It should also be noted that Solis defeated Haye as an amateur.

Haye needs to STFU and just go away and quit wasting everyone's time. Boxing will survive just fine without him.

Carl Thompson is right about Haye not having a big passion for boxing. It certainly shows in his unwillingness to fight more than twice a year despite being in his prime and his unwillingness to fight anyone but has been's, never where's, and over the hill gatekeepers, and B, C, and D level competition.

Haye's only concern is making money and in order to ensure that his earning potential remains strong he does two things.

        1) Uses faux negotiations with a Klitschko after each of his fights in order to keep the spotlight on his name. He backs out every time and makes a fight with someone whom he knows has no chance of beating him.

        2) He avoids any fights which might put another loss next to his name so that his earning potential isn't damaged or completely wrecked.

I believe Haye will retire at the end of this year boasting proudly that he did what he set out to do. A year ago I predicted that at some point he'd claim he no longer cared about fighting a Klitschko and that it would no longer be necessary for him. Well he's gone and done that now and I believe that he will indeed leave the sport without fighting either brother.

Everything Haye's done from the public confrontation of Wladimir to the most recent failed negotiations has been an act. Haye and his team make carefully calculated decisions and plan things out far in advance and his constant lying, ducking, and inactivity are evidence of this. Again Thompson is right about Haye not having much passion for boxing...it's the guaranteed money Haye gets from beating bums that he's passionate about. This is a guy who couldn't care less about the sport or his own legacy.

The *****kos clearly want no piece of Haye...especially Wladi*****. Haye doesn't need to fight them to cement his legacy, punking them out was definitely enough.

refuse to believe Haye would dare retire without facing 1 klitschko.

it really does seem wlad wants none of him, when haye realises this he will,or should pursue Vitali.

for me he will go back on his reitre b/s,its just another tool to pressure wlad/vitali.

he said he would retire at 30,now hes 30 and a few months old,he wont retire at 31 unless he gets vitali and it looks half likely wlad might dare face him in good time.

i see no reason he cant get one of them, beat them by KO/TKO mid to late rounds, then fight maybe 3-4 big fights agaisnt best in this poor division.

            face vitali,
            fight adamek
            povetkin
            arreola or chambers

fight at wembley, vegas, new york, philipines and africa.

hes not had enough fights yet, hasnt been hurt much at all,not even hit much, has plenty of years to stay in shape and retain speed and relfexes.

Haye will just be too happy to retire this year especially that he just got a way out of a match with Wladimir. It's his only way out of the "Klitschko Mayhem".

Gayevid will get retired by his next mandatory, Boytsov will KO him but I predict just like he has ducked anyone that is a threat or anyone younger than 37, he will duck Boytsov as well. Gayevid vs Valuev II "Redemption of the Crippled Giant" coming in 3D near views, hold you to your seat Gaye lovers, maybe this time Gayevid will throw 6 punches around instead of 5.

I think your over looking the fact that it was Haye that pulled out of the fight with Wlad (again),not the other way around.
