Remember Cotto at 140? He would gain just as much as Ortiz and would get buzzed and hurt repeatedly, but at 147 all of that seemed to change and that's because of that.

Great job on both sides, even though it made for a **** fight.
Ortiz imo is damage goods and that fight showed it,if making 140lb is a problem he should move up but coming in at MW is crazy and an unfair advantage imo..I think Peterson in both his losses has shown heart, will and determination..This is a dangerous fight for Khan I expect him to win it but anybody who feels it would be easy ask Bradley(who imo dominated Peterson and still had a ver hard time)and Ortiz who was hurt by some of those over hand rights..

Prescott should have fought someone of note or even a decent c level fighter by now..IMO a fight against Prescott is a waste of time when we could see how Khan will do against a fighter with an interesting style and at least rank top 10..

He wouldn't be able to name-drop Manny Pacquiao any more, so it's doubtful. Also, I think his vulnerability makes him more entertaining to watch.

Khan needs to prepare for the Bradley/Alexander winner and fighting Breidis Prescott will not sharpen his defensive game.

Getting in the ring with Peterson will require a far better defensive game than he displayed vs Maidana. Going on Khan's performance in the ring with Peterson will provide better clues to his ability vs the likes of Bradley and alexander.

Versus prescott there would be no learning curve.

Well the fights basically a tune up/keep active PPV fight, so appealing to the casual fans is going to be hard with Peterson, his only notable fights are Ortiz (draw) and Bradley(lost)

With Prescott he may have not fought anyone of note since Khan, however everyone knows him for ko'ing him, and that image is going to be played throughout his career and beyond.
The fight can be billed as Khans revenge and allow Khan to put the fight behind before he becomes a superstar name.

That is a good point that I didn't think of. I think that aswell as being in top shape is what kept him going against Maidana.

This is a good fight, for a few reasons

                      1. Peterson is top 10

                      2. Peterson just drew with ortiz, and finished the stronger

                      3. Peterson is a good boxer, should give Khan rounds

                      4. Khan can try an be the first to Ko Peterson

                      5. Peterson is a known american so HBO should be happy with the fight
