But I'll agree about his predictions, they can be pretty absurd. He used to always pick against Wladimir Klitschko no matter who he was facing. It got to the point where it was just kind of ridiculous.
However, when he is calling a fight, he sees things that the average viewer does not see. If a fighter is dropping his hands or doing something that is fundamentally flawed Atlas always will notice it. He has a knack for that.Comment

Atlas always speaks out and criticizes when fighters are fed soft opposition midway through their respective careers. Yet, that is in fact the case with what he's doing with Povetkin. Since he's been with Povetkin, Alexander has only fought journeyman and has not faced any credible contenders. I think that this has done a disservice to Povetkin and has affected his confidence.
As for your post, yes, Povetkin needs to step up his game in his next fight...
As for him stepping up his fight game, again that's going to be difficult since he's been mollycoddled so much lately. Whoever takes over from Atlas is going to have to treat Povetkin like an amateur again, because at this point in time I doubt he's anywhere near ready for a top ten fighter. His regression has been shocking.Comment

When a fighter's confidence is shot it's extremely difficult to recover. Povetkin always struck me as a bit flaky, and was unwilling to face Wlad even before Atlas became his trainer. At this point in time I think it's extremely unlikely we'll ever see him get in the ring with Wlad unless he's forced to. And that won't be until 2012 at the earliest.

Take the klits out of the pic and Povetkin is prime to take over(and Boytsov i believe)Comment

I don't think so. Povs fight with Chambers back in 2008 was pretty competitive till Chambers gassed out, and since that time Chambers has improved whilst Povs has regressed. As for Boytsov he's another one who needs to step up his game. For me, Adamek, Chambers and Haye are the three best fighters after the Klits, with maybe Solis entering the picture if he can sort his weight out. Pulev looks like one to watch as well.Comment
