I always thought about this as I was a huge fan of Naseem Hamed back in the day. Dude rarely sat on his shots, threw a lot of arm punches, and was obliterating people with his power.

Also George Foreman is another example. I truly believe George would kill fighters if he sat on his punches and got full leverage. Don't believe me, look at what his arm punches were doing to elite fighters like Joe Frazier.

Man,when he stopped Moore, those were 2 picture perfect 1-2's!!When I think of bad form & awesome power,I think of Edison Miranda & James Kirkland.

Do you not think it's their poor technique that could be a reason they are so powerful.

Hamed with his wide punches from his hips meant he had alot of leverage on his punches, it could also be the angles. Darchiniyan is a hard puncher no doubt and he had poor techinical form in his punches but he punches at weird angles which increase the chances you don't expect the punch coming from that angle and get KO'd.

Abraham has his feet set all wrong (atleast it's wrong when looking at boxing fundementals) and he generates HUGE power in his short punches.

The whole point of having good technique is to generate power without losing balance.

Brawlers like Hamed, Mayorga, Maidana, Peter and the rest throw their entire body into their punch without regard for balance.

Proper technique wouldn't necessarily give them a stronger punch, but instead better balance so they wouldn't get caught during a punch and sent to the canvas from an off balance position.

I think they would actually fair better if they had better defense.

For some odd reason brawlers tend to abandon defense in favor of machismo and crowd pleasing action.

In that case, let the Mayorgas be Mayorgas. We need them around for the entertainment.
