Muhammad Ali: His Life and Times by Thomas Hauser - The ultimate biography of Ali. It reads like a good documentary, with the majority of the text large quotes from people who were close to Ali or events in his life. The great part is that at times they contradict one another, as the book leaves the reader to decide.

Four Kings by George Kimball - A fantastic book documenting the rise of Leonard, Duran, Hagler and Hearns and their subsequent clashes.

Jacob's Beach by Kevin Mitchell - Vividly documents that relationship between the mob and boxing, centring on Madison Square Garden in the fifties. One for boxing historians.

Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson by Geoffrey Ward - Immense biography of one of boxing's true originals, documenting both Johnson and his place in American society.

Wating for Carver Boyd by Thomas Hauser - Excellent boxing fiction about a young fighter rising to fight for the heavyweight championship. Highly recommended.

ONe of my favorite boxing books is the first boxing book I read. Battling Siki. (Guess who it's about?

It's a really good book. Great read and it goes into some incredible detail with some of his most important fights. It doesn't lolly-gag around, either. The first chapter keeps you hooked.

Also, the author has a respect for authenticity. So, the moments in the book where he explains the fights isn't over-the-top. It's realistic.

            I'd definitely recommend that book.

Aside from boxing books, I recommend training books in endurance. There are good books out there that delves on this topic.

Endurance training is quite a broad sweeping term. It's often used interchangeably with terms like "aerobic", "anaerobic", "strength" and "speed". I suggest books that focuses primarily on aerobic endurance conditioning and the various training methods that have been developed to help athletes reach peak aerobic fitness.

Endurance training is important for many sports including boxing. While the type and amount of endurance training will change according to the specific demands of the sport, even some traditional strength and power based games demand a solid aerobic base. Some boxing coaches are using this as part of their boxers' training.
