nah, Mayorga is way past his best. Trinidad cracked his chin, DLH broke it in half, and Mosley finally shattered it.(although admittedly he did pretty damn well against Mosley considering he was past his best).
based on his last fight, he doesnt train whatsoever anymore.


Surprisingly I think I would favor Mayorga against Cotto prime vs prime. I just see Cotto eating too many of Mayorga's uppercuts and yet not really being able to hurt Mayorga.

Mayorga will always have the punchers chance. He does hit hard and he is a wild swinger. He doesn't offer enough pressure and is not active enough to give Cotto that many problems. I go with the skill in this one since Mayorga hasn't done anything worth of noting in the past few years

Come on man Bob Arum is smarter than that. If Mayorga had a shot this fight wouldn't be happening!

Margarito vs Cotto is gonna be a big money maker for Arum he wouldn't do anythin to hurt that happening. Cotto makes Arum money he won't let him get clipped by anyone outside his stable unless he thinks he's come to the end of the money trail and the payoff is worth it.

Why:

Cotto struggles with strong guys who are bigger than he is. He has a hard time dodging right hands. Mayorga is a crazy dude who will apply pressure. He recently made Mosley look like garbage not to long ago. Ive never seen Cotto hold up when pressured. He folds. I like Cotto hope he wins.

Now if Mayo doesnt train hard and his chin is finished then this is a moot point.

The hope for Mayorga is that Cotto goes wild for some reason, where Mayorga can catch him. I like Mayorga, but I don't see this happening.

More than likely, we will see Mayorga go through a fight similar to the one he had with De La Hoya.

I also think Mayorga will have even less success then he did against Trinidad. That curled up peekaboo punching that Cotto uses is not good for Mayorga's style. Cotto will see everything and come back with bombs.
