    How does muscle gain make you slower?

    everyone seems to think going up one-two classes = slower
    maybe if you are too busy lifting weights instead of doing your usual explosive/boxing training? sure it sacrifices some stamina, but speed?

    personally speaking i have incredibly big muscles yet have blazing speed.

      when i went from 148 to 168(as i am right now) i became much much faster, absolutly blazing, so i dont get how tiny muscles is suppossed to = more speed

      not to mention mass + speed = power(it's more complicated, but that's basically it)

          Were you an adult at 148? Or did you gain 20lb as oppose to growing up.

              i was 154-5'is walk around
              when i got into shape i was at 148 at 16, and went to 164 at 17(when i noticed i was fast to the point i could'nt see my own fists) and have been 168 for the last two years(19 now)

              i've been in great shape since i was 16

                its not that gaining more muscle specifically makes you slower, its that the extra weight of muscle can slow you down...its just more extra weight loading you down. After all, muscle does weigh more than fat.

                now the thing is that muscle can also make you faster due to explosive fibres and conditioning, but after a certain point when you start overtraining certain muscle groups(for example biceps) you start seeing less and less practical physical strength gains and then the extra weight can start to slow you down.

                increased weight in general usually slows you do, and that makes sense, right?

                  i dunno, i have'nt read up on this stuff man, but alot of sprinters are built like tanks
