Chambers is average at best. A green Povetkin already kicked his as.Eddie Chambers. Not only is he the most athletic of the fighters mentioned, but he's also the most willing to prove his skills against the best. He took on Brock back when he was a heavy underdog and beat him. He gave a very good showing for the first few rounds against Povetkin, strafing Povs with fast and well timed right hands, and displaying an excellent high guard/sway back style of defence that negated a lot of Povs work on the inside before his poor condition (now rectified) caused him to gas. Then, whilst Povetkin was sitting on the sidelines doing nothing, Chambers took on Peter and Dimitrenko back to back, totally outclassing the then unbeaten Dimitrenko to a decision in Germany, before taking on Wlad. That not only took guts, but smarts as well, and it's just a shame for Chambers it ended as it did.
People like to harp on about the dominance of Eastern Europeans in the Heavyweight division, but if it wasn't for the Klitschkos I wouldn't be surprised to see Chambers with a belt. Really, who is a dead cert to beat him? Povetkin? Chagaev? Boytsov? They'd all be good competitive matches no doubt, but I'd givethe current Chambers a very good chance against all three fighters. Against Haye, Haye would be fighting against an opponent with equal handspeed to him, and a very tricksy defensive style that could cope with Haye's wild lunging attacks from a mile away. Against Adamek, well, I'd pick Adamek to beat Chambers by outworking him, but again by no means a dead cert to do so. Chambers is a very underrated and underappreciated fighter, I think. Definitely a cut above Arreola and Thompson at least.
You're really reaching here.Comment

says the guy who picked Chambers to beat Wlad.
You're just trying to discredit Wlad's dominant highlight reel KO win over Chambers.
You've been talking a lot of shit about Wlad lately. You're clearly a Wlad hater.Last edited by Steelhammer2011; 01-05-2011, 06:03 AM.Comment

Hope the next generation is better because there has been no good heavyweights for the last ten years. Makes it tough to be a good champion because no one can tell if it's how good you are or just that the division sucks.Comment

That is one horrendous list.
Fuck it, I voted for Holyfield. At least I have the memories.
If it weren't for the Klitschkos or Adamek, I'd pay absolutely no attention to the heavyweight division. The Klitschkos are the best we have in boxing's most prestigious weight class, and they get taken for granted far too much.Comment

I thought Dimitrenko was better than he really was. Chambers is a mediocre fighter with fast hands.
A green Povetkin already murked him. Wlad is chinny and overrated, he has been fighting poor opposition lately which really proves nothing to me.Comment
