Williams? Nope. Andrade? Nope. Arreola? Nope. And I don't recall Mayweather or Pacquaio fighting anybody on the level of Andy Lee in years.

As far as Berto is concerned

"The bottom line is Andre Berto will be in a big fight in early 2011, or he won't be on HBO," Greenburg said. "Whenever he fights next, if it's not against a big-name opponent, then you won't see him. He knows that, his management [Al Haymon] knows that. And his promoter [Lou DiBella] knows that. Believe it or not, they feel the same way. We've been very patient. Now it's time. If it doesn't happen, so be it."

No problem with the Martinez-Dzinziruk fight.

However, I don't like the idea of a network promising a fighter a date when one they don't even know who the said fighter opponent will be.

I don't think the network should play matchmaker either. The network has every right to accept or refute any fight. But, to play matchmaker? That doesn't sit well with me personally. When have you ever seen Showtime play matchmaker? Name me one time, since Showtime went with great fights/no rights motto that they have promised a date to a fighter and then told that fighter who he had to fight?

I think it is quite simple, wait till a fight gets signed if you like it invest in it, if you don't then pass on it and keep it moving until a fight that you like is signed. Don't play matchmaker, that is all there is to it.

Also the money situation, that they're paying for fights are ridiculous. I know they have the biggest budget than any other network. If they don't ratings/a return in their investment then it in no time boxing on HBO would cease to exist. I think boxing on HBO is already a sinking ship.

Because, if they keep outbidding themselves and they don't get a return/ratings than the heads of HBO will wonder what is the point of showcasing boxing?

Chris Arreola is not a world champion. Martinez is in a different position. He's 36 years old and a world champ. And from my memory Arreola also fought Klitschko and Adamek.

Also, Martinez doesnt bring in anywhere near the money Mayweather or Pacquiao do. So who do you think they are going to favor? Can you do better than that example? Because I do want to do this. Why don't you start with Paul Williams...

Nah i didnt see the Santos fight or the Julio fight who from what i have read on this site today are his 2 biggest wins. I saw him recently on showtime and he seemed to have a very good jab and looked like a solid boxer from what i can remember. I just dont understand why HBO is pushing so hard for this particular fight when no one knows who this guy is outside of the real hardcore fans and when HBO allows guys like Berto who havent proven **** to fight guys like Freddy Hernandez. If he is as good as advertised its good that HBO is pushing for the fight but they should do that with all fighters not just Sergio.
