What the hell happened to the Heavyweight divison?

Ever since Lennox Lewis retired the heavyweight division has gone to pieces. The Klitschko brothers have been dominant champions but where is their competition? Today you have a natural cruiserweight in David Haye who may pose the biggets challenge to the Klits, that's a damn shame. In recent years top HW have been guys like Eddie Chambers, Chris Arreola, Lamon Brewster, etc. What the hell? Sadly, today's version of "The Real Deal" Evander Holyfield may pose a bigger threat to the Klits than todays contendors like Povetkin, Adamek, etc.

The answer that a lot of people will give you is that "americans are playing basketball"

I don't think thats true, I just think it's going through a lull right now, and thats only highlighted by the dominance of the klitschkos meaning that there aren't any good competetive fights.

i think in about 5 years we should have some really good talent to watch fight.

What worries me is that the generation that grew up with Tyson, Holyfield and Lewis hasn't produced anything. If those fighters didn't get kids into the ring, who will?

        doubt it.

the best athletes (U.S. and otherwise) don't box anymore.

Why don't all the weight divisions suck then?

you still got guys like Ward, Dirrell, Dawson, Bradley, and others who are fantastic athletes

At their size they're not making the NBA. I don't know how big your average NFL dude is but I'm guessing a lot more than 168lbs?

(Not having a go at you, I genuinely don't know)

Why is it true? 406 active pro USA HW boxers and another couple hundred that are just inactive over 12 months. That is no handful. They just aren't good enough.

Gabe Brown just needs someone to give him the chance he deserves.
