    Pacquiao didnt gain any(or much) weight during training. hes always weighed in around 147 on fight night. and I have fair reason to think that he weighs around that naturally.

    only difference nowadays is that he doesnt have to shed that extra weight to make weight anymore. which is an advantage.

        Dude has always had pop, you brought up going from Diaz (135) to DLH so I used those weights. He was a KO guy at 130 as well and he isn't knocking WW's like he was knocking those 130lbers.

        Underlining your argument? You say he's put on more muscle mass, I said he jsut isn't cutting water like he used to. End of the day muscle mass + water weight is the same when he's fighting at 130 or 147, if there was more muscle mass now, he would have to dehydrate himself to make 147 and fight at a higher weight but instead he stays hydrated and gains little to no weight come fight night. Why is this so f'ing hard for you to comprehend?

          The dude is ****ing stuck. He thinks Pac put on 12 lbs of muscle and stays dehydrated on fight night so he weighs the same as before.

            Have you ever seen someone who does what you are implying Manny does? How do they look?

              Mayweather has done it his whole career. Instead of cutting a bunch of weight, he fights near his natural weight and doesn't put his body through being dehydrated. Cutting 10+ lbs of water weight is hard on your body. Old school fighters had to fight this way too because of same day weigh ins, they didn't have 24 hours for their body to absorb all that water.

              C'mon man, you really suggesting that nobody in the history of boxing cut weight to make one weight class, then moved up to a more natural weight class without the help of PED's?

                Mayweather has done what his whole career? Are you nuts? Try a reasonable comparison.

                • I would love to get into this recycled thread, but it is getting old. I would rather have fun with Mayas now than with these *****s. Same ish but Mayas has a fresh new take. The affirmative action theory is where its at.

                    This concept is something that most people don't understand.

                    Force= mass x acceleration.

                    So, in essence, this means that Pacquaio will punch harder at 147 than at 135, unless he has slowed down as much (relatively) as he has gained weight.
                    Look at it this way;

                    Force Mass Acceleration
                    10 = 10 x 1
                    10 = 5 x 2
                    10 = 2 x 5
                    10 = 1 x 10

                    The result in force in this example is all equal. But while Pacquiao has slowed down a bit while going up in weight, he hasn't slowed down to the extent that his power is the same as it was.
                    He has increased his mass enough to improve his power, or more popularly called "carried the power up".

                    As evidenced by all the weigh-ins of the day of the fight in the past, Pacquiao was nearly the same weight in 135 as he is in 147, which makes it easy to see why he blew people out of the water, seeing as he had nearly the same actual punching power back in 135 as he has in 147.
                    His weight is now a little bit more usable weight (muscle mass), so his punches are probably a little stronger now than in 135, but he's not a big puncher by any means in 147. (usable weight, or active weight, is important because it increases the weight of the arm, which is what you are accelerating towards your opponent, more than body fat does)

                    But if Pacman would be able to keep all his speed while moving up, he would still be as hard a puncher in 147 as in 130, relative to the weightclass of course.

                    To conclude this, Pacman is a fast fighter. Therefore he is also a relatively strong puncher in the welterweight class. I say relatively because he's a little light compared to the big guys in the class.

                      For your first question, read my 2nd sentence.

                      More reasonable...hmm okay Cotto. Dude used to fight at 140, fought at 155-160 moved up to 147, looked stronger and sturdy still weighed 155-160. Now he's doing the same thing @ 154. He didn't gain much muscle mass with each move but was healthier from not cutting as much weight.

                      Thats it, I'm done, you are so ****ing close minded and dense its pathetic.
