some fighters can jump in weight with no problem, some fighters can't. imo marquez wont be effective anywhere above 140. did you see the mayweather fight. thats a given that he would be outbox by the best in mayweather but he didnt look very good and lack speed and power.looked really sluggish.

Dude since when was moving up 5 lbs considered BLOWN up? Was Mayweather BLOWN up when he moved up to 135? How about from 135-140, or what about 147-154?

Was Pac BLOWN up when he jumped from 135-147?

Or maybe RJJ was BLOWN UP when he moved up to HW?

if you move up and can't carry the weight, you're blown up. if jmm was competitive for 5 rounds against wifebeater you could make the argument that he can carry the weight, but jmm just got murked.

I say let him get a fight with a legit Jr WW,like a Urango or even a Ortiz..If he looks good against either I would love to see him mix it up with Khan and any other 140lb..But right now he is just unproven at the weight and like ya said when he put the weight on for the May fight he did not look good at all..No power,No speed,and just look like he did not have the energy that was needed..I don't mind a Khan JMM fight but only if JMM shows to be a good opponent at 140lb..

I agree, take a fight at 140 with a b class contender then fight a top 140. as much as i am a fan of jmm, i really doubt he has the power to do damage at 140. he has tons of skill and experience but i think he going to lack the punching power at jr welter. he does get hit alot even the former light weight champ juan diaz shook him up a bit, and even the hard hitting katsidis knocked him down. I just think these guys are naturally bigger than him and will be able to walk through his combination punches and rough him up, imo. i really like him and really dont want to see him take a beating. thats all.

I agree and I'm a fan of JMM as well(how could ya not be)but he has to show he can handle the weight..His skills are there its the weight that's the problem imo..I think he could look good at 140lb but we need more then just thoughts we need proof that JMM is effective above 135lb..If he shows that he is I'm all in for JMM and Khan to mix it up..

I'm all in for Khan-Peterson I think it's a really good fight..But Khan-JMM does not make sense unless JMM beats a decent fighter from the weight Class..But Khan should be wanting to fight the winner of Bradley-Alexander..But IMO this is just something GBP is throwing out there so the winner of Bradley-Alexander knows that Khan has other options..This fight with JMM just does not make sense at the moment,a champion needs to be crowned at 140lb and all the players are set up for that to happen..Let's see how this plays out..

Kahn said in one of the articles this week that he was looking for fellow world titlists above (BEFORE) fighting the Bradley/Alexander winner. He's looking for a big name (JMM) or world titlist (the easiest IMO) to bump his name up so he can demand even higher pay in the future. I knew this was coming... honestly, I say don't be expecting a fight between Kahn and Bradley/Alexander any time in the near future. Even once negotiations do start between them, I expect there will be A LOT of hang ups due to disagreements in purse split.

What does interest me though is, they've already tried to negotiate with (****) JMM before. What's gonna make it any different this time around? Kahn, coming off a big win against Maidana and JMM against Katsidis - I can't see an outcome any different then it was the first 2 times. If JMM wasn't willing to take less money against Pacquiao for a mega trilogy (and that was upwards of $5 million), what makes anyone at GBP think that JMM will bend over for their demands with Kahn (to make $1 million or less)? Unless Kahn is willing to change his stance about the purse split (which I highly doubt), I can't see Kahn/JMM fight happening in the future.

Hopefully the fans will pressure Kahn in to fighting the Bradley/Alexander winner after he fights Peterson.

It still amazes me how a boxing fan can belittle Marquez after the brilliant boxing he's given us over the years and talk about Khan like he's a beast at any weight class. He is extrenely vulnerable and he's been knocked out by IMO a lesser fighter. I just want someone to refer me to the fight that made Khan a superstar because maybe I havent seen it. Was it a depleated Barrera or Malignaggi? LOL. Marquez shouldnt have to keep proving he's worthy of these big fights. It should be the other way around. Is it the loss to Mayweather (everyone he faced has lost to him) or is the part of his career when he took Manny to the limit. It just seems ass backwards to me. Khan may one day be a great fighter just not today.

Khan is at a higher weight than Marquez he is not going to stand and trade like every one of Marquez recent opponents. So it would be a tougher fight can Marquez win yes of course but there are weight classes for a reason.

Good post,I agree with just about everything ya said..I think the fight between Khan and Bradley/Alexander will happen..The buzz and the money will be there..Bradley/Alexander will be undefeated and Khan is a bigger draw,I say 50/50 is fair based on that let's just hope everyone is on the same page and willing to make this fight happen..
