To be honest I don't think Cotto wants to fight him. I thinks he doing it because bob wants it. He wants to fight fights like Martinez or even Floyd(if his ****** azz would stop doing unnecessary bull****). Cotto likes the big fights. Bob just want to use Cotto before his contract is up. Just like if Cotto wins in march and June we are going to be looking for a PAC/Cotto 2 in nov.LOL@ Cotto would rather fight Mayweather than Margarito.....

Fact is that Cotto should not be bothering with a Mayorga fight since the guy is out of shape 37 year old who has not beaten anyone relevant since 2007/2003 or been relevant in championship boxing since 2005 when he won the wbc lmw title and then got slapped up by DLH....aside from that cotto should forget giving this guy a shot at his title and be concentrating at a Marg Rematch as said in the thread title or even a 154 IB Unification Fight...
Mayorga has not been relevant for a while...though he does pose a threat he can easily be taken out by cotto if he counters him a lot and out punch him..mayorga has been KOd by De La Hoya , Mosley , Trinidad...
Cotto Win By TKO/KO for Mayorga..
But Margarito should have a tune up fight instead of jumping in with Cotto in June....IMO after both men have their fights and if they win then a rematch should take place but i dont see the point since marg has lost 2 major fights since cotto and aint really relevant anymore..
Cotto is concentrating on his fight with Margarito, thats why he is taking this tune up fight with Mayorga. The whole point of a tune-up fight is to pick a fighter that has little chance of beating you but will prepare you for battle in the ring. So when you say he shouldn't be bothered with Mayaorga and prepare for Margarito, I dont know what you would be asking Cotto to do.
Mayorga is almost a purley offensive fighter with great deficiencies in defense and foot work. Does this reimind you of anyone? Perhapse Margareto?Last edited by jey8100; 12-31-2010, 01:34 PM.Comment

Mayorga isn't a gauge of how Cotto will do against Margarito in a rematch I don't think. And the funny thing is, it wouldn't suprise me to see Mayorga beat Cotto because if a low work rate fighter with a leg injury like Clottey can beat Cotto, then so can a bigger harder punching aggressive dude that lets it hang out like Mayorga can beat Cotto.Comment
