Why is HBO starting a war with top rank?

Yeah, I think it would do fine ratings and even the fight will be good, but honestly what is the point? By the time they fight Miguel will virtually have had the Foreman fight like 10 months before and the Pac fight nearly 16 months before that. I think it is time Miguel gets in there with one of the big dogs for one last major run. Arum is ****ing everything up imo and despite doing a great job building Miguel, he is doing a poor job rebuilding him.Comment

So you think that Arum should have put Miguel against someone more dangerous and put the Margarito rematch in jeopardy? Come on.Yeah, I think it would do fine ratings and even the fight will be good, but honestly what is the point? More dangerous than Mayorga, without a doubt. Mayorga hasn't done anything in ages, he isn't a threat in this fight. Miguel had surgery and I understand that takes time but his warmup was against Foreman he doesn't need another tune up even with the surgery. Even if they had put him in rougher waters and he lost the Margarito PPV could still go on, simply because of the out of the ring stuff and how great the first fight was.
One of the reasons Miguel is my favorite fighter is he has never shied away from a challenge and always wanted the big fights and this fight is exactly the opposite. I know Arum calls the shots and it isn't up to him but I simply can't defend this fight.Comment

I agree with this. I have wanted to see Cotto fight Berto for some time now, so I'm a bit pissed off right now that they could make that fight but instead choose this waste of everyone's time which HBO won't even pick up(and rightfully so).More dangerous than Mayorga, without a doubt. Mayorga hasn't done anything in ages, he isn't a threat in this fight. Uncle Bob don't care about boxing. He will do a bad card with a so so main event and tries to sell it like it is the best fight ever happening. HBO is a savy matchmaker and with the money they put up they can be selective in what fights they want.
It is business and they won't keep buying into Arum's half baked products, especially when he is keeping everything in house to benefit even more. A Cotto/Martinez fight will sell more than anything else offered for those two fighters this momentComment

Yall need to realize even though Cotto is a battle tested vet he hasn't had a lot of time work with E Steward and really rest and recharge hiself from the Margarito, Manny and Clottey fights. Of course Arum is always pulling some bull**** but Cotto fighting Mayorga is good because he not that much different than Margarito. I can see why HBO didn't pick up the fight but can't understand why Arum next move was PPV. Hell he could have tried showtime, Fox sports, ESPN or Versus before going the PPV route.
This comment has nothing to do with Cotto I like the dude but I hope the PPV bombs terribly only because Arum needs to stop acting like a b!tch.
I'm of the general belief fighters want to fight but 95+% of the time it the managers and promoters who mess things up because of what they want.Comment
