If we say "Fight of the Year", then it is supposed to be a bruising 12 Rounds Fight, with no knockouts! Because both fighters are really FIGHTERS!

And the fight should have ended in UD or Draw!

How about more than 1800 punches thrown and...

..more than 600 punches landed in one single fight that lasted 12 rounds....in my book..that's the so called real "FIGHT of the year"

Burns-Martinez, Antillion-Soto, and Calderon-Segura were the top 3 for me.

It was a vote; no singular here bro. About half the voting staff went with this one, the other half all over the place. Made for fun voting.

What great fight this year was as significant as Ivan Calderon-Giovani Segura? You had the two best in the division going head-to-head,in a title unification fight,in yet another installment of the great Mexican-Puerto Rican rivalry - and the fight completely surpassed all expectations.

Those middle rounds, with both combatants going toe-to-toe,trading blows before a roaring crowd, with Benny Ricardo and Bob Sheridan putting in the finest commentary work heard in recent memory - it's offensive to compare Marquez-Katsidis and Soto-Antillon to this fight.

Round four is the reason boxing will always have the edge over any other sport. No other sport can rival the level of intensity and consistency that the last 90 seconds of that round brought.

I agree on this, too bad the Boricua lost, but **** it he had a great run, champ for years - and finally passed the torch to a hungry young lion, no shame in that.

I agree on the fight of the year. I tip my hat off to Calderon dude has heart. Segura is a warrior that is hungry and proved it. 2 warriors deserved it.
