Is floyd a poor mans leonard or sweet pea?

his style is nowhere near those 2----it's his own style--if anything, james toney is more comparible to floyd than pea and sugar---floyd is more skilled overall than pea and sugar--he moved better--fought off of the ropes better--much more polished if you ask me, meaning he does almost everything perfectly and much smoother---he punches never really looked sloppy and wild--he's a sharp shooter---they all have their own styles though--he used to get compared to these guys when he was younger but i didn't see the comparison--he's floyd mayweather jr, that's a style in it's own-
they compared floyd to roy jones also and de la hoya--and they compared roy jones to srl and i never saw it--maybe roy and srl some, but not floyd---
floyd's style is unique--Comment

No, not at all he fights nothing like them.
He is more Hopkins, Toney, Benton etc etc type of a fighter.
Nothing like Whitaker at all.
Anselmo Moreno is a poor man Whitaker, and I mean very poor, no disrespect to Moreno cuz he is one of my favorites and very skilled. It just Whitaker was on another level.
And, Leonard? I would say defense wise, pure boxing skill wise Leonard is a poor man Floyd TBH. Leonard defense and pure boxing skills was overrated IMO. However, Leonard brawling skills and pressure skills was underrated IMO. Overall I would take Leonard>Floyd. But, no poor man anything different dudes, different styles really, different ways they went about their business.Comment

He's faster, more athletic, and better conditioned than whitaker and Leonard.
Doesn't mean he's the better fighter though.
and it definately doesn't mean floyd would have fought them if they were somehow born in their primes together.
I think Sugar Ray and Whitaker would have both beat Floyd because as much technical ability as all 3 have, only Floyd is lacking natural fighting/brawling ability and killer instinct.Last edited by DARKSEID; 12-29-2010, 12:36 AM.Comment

you must not have not watched his fights with coralles and gatti then--he does have that instinct, but nobody has been good enough to bring it out of him like gatti did and coralles did--those fights were very personal---don't kid yourself--he has a killer instinct--he's just too good to have to show it---
