he would have been getting near 10k for a commonwealth title defence and for his world title shot he would have made more than 20k.

his first title defence was infront of 4500 scots , a sell out. hes big in scotland and has now got some excellent sponsors

yes he still works part time in the sports shop as its only now he is making decent money

i think with a big fight Burns could sell out a staduim (probably Hampden or Parkhead) he's big news over here and if Lopez gets 3mill it will be fighting over here (unliklely, but kostya tszyu got the same amount for fighting Ricky Hatton). Id be surprised if its true, Warren seems to be taking a lot more risks with his fighters nowadays, maybe he doesnt want to lose anymore fighters

i see a few similarities with lopez-burns and hatton-tszyu. Burns is a huge super feather and has a great chin and heart, i could see him swarming lopez and no giving him a second to breath. He doesnt have that much pop but enough to keep Lopez honest, Juanma's chin is suspect like most Ricans IMHO. propably more so at this new weight unless he's killing himself. Lopez would be favourite but Burns would rise to the occasion and give him hell.

I was pulling a figure out my arse to be honest. But I can't imagine it was much more than 20K.

it was never reported up here how much burns got for the title defence vs eversen but i think he at least got 50k because of the crowd , tv money and promotional side

The people in this thread who are saying Burns should avoid Lopez make me laugh. If Burns could make a six-figure sum he has made it in prizefighting terms.

even with 50k the tax will kill him , he would probably clear 20-25k after tax.

think he works 2-3 day at the shop but recently he has been in the paper here as he got a cracker of a new car from a sponsor

Money matters. Juanma deserves an ea$y fight after the wars he's been in but it should be against an easy opponent in Puerto Rico-- where he'd sell out no matter who he fights. His handlers shouldn't put him in vs Burns for no less than VERY BIG MONEY though-- he's not as talented as Juanma but he is a much bigger man= no guarantee of a win.
