Comments Thread For: Cotto-Mayorga: Adviser Says "Name Value" Beat Vanes

Gabriel Peñagarícano, legal adviser to WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, said the strong name value of Ricardo Mayorga was the deciding factor in selecting him over unbeaten contender Vanes Martirosyan. Mayorga, Vanes and Polish boxer Pawel Wolak were the three fighters under review for Cotto's ring return on March 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

I don't understand why they just don't make Berto-Cotto at 154lbs instead..Mayorga does nothing but serve as an easy win for Cotto..

Vanes sucks..i wouldn't want that fight either way..but i guess the build up will be funny watching Mayorga get under Cotto's skin, and Cotto's reaction to the insults..

"Only ones who respect Cotto, are his own kids" -Mayorga

          Lmao!!.

              Garbage

Another ridiculous matchup. We already know that Cotto will win by KO. I don't understand how Mayorga even qualifies after being gone for such a long time pursuing MMA and then coming back to beat a no name. Mayorga is one of the worst and sloppiest fighters out there. Give the fight to a top contender. This name recognition is also the reason that Mosley got Pacquiao instead of Marquez. Ridiculous.

I don't take Mayorga too lightly. He is a live dog and has a great chin. But I will have more fun watching the press conference than more than anything. Cotto has never had to deal with a crazy sht talker before like this. Should be fun.

                    Cotto would beat Vanes, easily.

                    Mayorga would atleast provide entertainment.
