i wouldn't mind clottey vs margarito again or clottey vs mosley--hell, berto vs margarito, i wouldn't even mind--maybe cotto vs margarito---but no clottey vs berto-lol--
but i feel berto needs to fight manny before shane does at this point--hell, i would watch berto vs marquez, no doubt---but shane vs pac at this point is ****** if you ask me---martinez, jmm, or berto--until floyd comes back to whoop that ass--Comment

Are you serious? Clottey.... WTF is it with people and Clottey? Is it that Pac fought him so that makes him a great WW now? Tell me again who he's beaten other than Judah in the last what 5 years, 6, 7, 8 years? Anything? What has this guy done at WW besides lose every important fight?

As for Cotto, Margarito and Pwill? They're not even WW's...
At the end of the day Arum has an agenda. That's what it comes down too. Its not about "ability", "availability" but "Marketability". It's not about who deserves a shot or who has the skills to compete, let a lone what the fans want. Its what about what brings in the most money for Bob. It doesn't matter "who's" around or what going on. Arum has agenda and certain fighters are not on it.
They make a fight and spend 4 months trying to justify the selection to the "fans". They say over and over how "dangerous" a fighter is. As if we needed to be told that if a fighter really was "dangerous" or not.... Arum is fooling a lot of you clowns.
Berto is a top (green) guy AT WW and needs a big name to put him on the map just as Pac needed Hoya to put him on the map. Pac fighting Berto would have been a good choice IMO but I understand how Arum works and know its not about matching up the best vs the best or giving the fans what they want. Reason Arum didn't agree to put Pac in the ring with Floyd. Same reasons we didn't get Mosley in 2009, JMM III, Martinez and Berto..... Arum has an agenda.Comment

1.Manny Pacquiao - Numbers 1 and 2 not only in the pound for pound list, but also in the welterweight division, Pacquiao vs. Mayweather must happen. Pacquiao has a good showing over Joshua Clottey, and a dominant effort against Antonio Margarito, which while a fight for a junior middleweight title, was basically contested at welterweight. His most impressive performance at welterweight (read: 145 lbs), was still over Miguel Cotto.
2.Floyd Mayweather – Mayweather put on a truly dominant performance over Shane Mosley, a fight that many considered one of his most dangerous and challenging to date. We knew he would be faster, but he was also stronger and perhaps even more powerful as the fight wore on. Of course, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao needs to happen. Mayweather could be ranked as number 1 in the division, but really the only way to solve the ranking dilemma is by these two meeting in the ring.
3.Andre Berto – Sure, Berto has been a titleholder for over two years, but he hasn’t faced the best competition. Many people felt that he lost to Luis Collazo, and dominating junior welterweight Juan Urango is only moderately impressive. The win over Quintana was solid, but Berto still hasn't met anybody that had a real chance to beat him. Regardless of his competition, Berto has serious hand speed, a great offensive arsenal and good power. Whether he has the chin and the defense to be the top dog is very questionable.
4.Shane Mosley– Oh, what could have been for Shane Mosley. He had Mayweather arguably as hurt as he's ever been in his career in the second round of their fight, but that's all he was able to accomplish and he was dominated the rest of the way. Somehow he managed to land a bout against Manny Pacquiao, for May 7th, 2011. Good luck in that one, 39-year-old Sugar.
5.Joshua Clottey – Clottey has now lost the three biggest fights of his career, against Antonio Margarito, Cotto, and Pacquiao. While he acquitted himself fairly well against Cotto, it was a seeming non-effort or complete inability to keep up with the Pacman in his shot at the big-time. He could still step in with a fighter like Andre Berto and give him trouble, or maybe there's a rematch against Margarito or Cotto in his future.
6.Jan Zaveck: Zaveck is the IBF titleholder and is coming off a Majority Decision win over the guy who gave him his only loss, Rafal Jackiewicz, back in November of 2008. The competition he has been facing more than leaves something to the imagination, but that could be said for Andre Berto, too.
7.Kell Brook - Brook is one of the hottest names in the British and UK boxing scene. He currently sits at 23-0 with 16 KOs, and is looking to come to the states to start turning things up a notch. He was lined up to face American prospect Mike Jones, but Jones is at least temporarily tied up with his rematch against Jesus Soto-Karass.
8.Saul Alvarez - He's been fighting at around 150 lbs for most of his recent fights, but wisdom with a young prospect means that he'll drop a few pounds for his first run at a title and big time fights, before moving back up down the road. Just 20 years old, 35 (26) - 0 - 1 , and already with all of Mexico and Golden Boy behind him, we'll be seeing plenty of Alvarez in the future, bank on it.
9.Alfonso Gomez - Gomez has strung some wins together since the one-sided loss to Miguel Cotto. It's enough to see his way onto this list, but one would think he doesn't have much more room to climb in this competitive scene. A fight with Abregu would be great for both men.
10.Luis Carlos Abregu - Who doesn't like to see this guy fight? He's a fight fan's dream... game-changing power with a chin that puts him in enough trouble that he is forced to break it out and swing for the fences. He's clearly not on par with the top three guys in the division, and that showed when junior welterweight stud Timothy Bradley dominated him. But Abregu vs. Clottey, Gomez, or anyone else in the top 10 would be a good one.
