  • I think Margarito could be that thorn on Cotto's side or like the old saying goes, "He could just have his number". But there are some things to consider.

Watching the first fight several times, I can say Cotto made mistakes in that fight. It seemed as if he was going for the kill too early not realizing how durable Margarito was (at that point), and seemed a bit over confident. I'm one who believes Margarito was packin heat in his wraps in that fight, but you can't solely rely on that as to why Cotto lost (and I'm a big Cotto supporter). Cotto couldn't seem to deal with Margarito's pressure as the fight progressed (rounds 7 and on) and much of his defense was him covering up on the ropes (bad move against a pressure fighter).

I think this time around, Steward needs to implement a great game plan for Cotto, and I think Cotto will be more focused that he's ever been. It's a huge opportunity for him to get that dark cloud over his career which made his career go in a completely different direction than originally planned.

Going into this rematch, we have to consider the following:

How damaged is Margarito after the beating from Pacquiao?

Will Cotto's mental game effect him positively or negatively when under pressure?

Who's corner will be pivotal down the stretch?

I expect yet another epic fight. Without question one of the most anticipated rematches in years. Boxing fans win either way.

      good point

however the other thing that bothers me is the body language.

my job involves developing strategies for communicating with people, plus i love playing live poker so ive got a reasonable eye for how people act in certain situations....

im no expert for sure - but margo does not give off any of the tell tale indicators of a man who knows his wraps r dodgy, as a matter of fact its almost the opposite...

going on his behaviour alone he either doesnt have dodgy wraps or somehow he doesnt know they r dodgy.

dont attack me guys - im no expert but hopefully you'll see what im saying

i was a total beleiver in margo using handwraps in the cotto fight... and maybe he did but this video forces me to at least re-evaluate.

        If you believe that...Thats fine.
Then you will believe Freddie Roach when he said after watching past fights he seen Margarito leave his gloves on after some fights. Those fights he cheated then

            • Cotto wins easy!!!! Ppl that think Margarito win is crazy!!!!! If you look at the first fight Cotto was beating the **** out of Magarito, but the mistake Cotto did was try to KO him early in the fight, an ended up gasing out an had no legs to move like he did n the beginning of the fight I think Cotto will pace himself an probably KO Margarito in the later rounds.

Being plaster smashed to the face and nose had a lot to do with cotto's condition in the later round. His nose was a mess from round 2 on. He gassed out and considering Margarito's plaster hands, Cotto took his shots well. There was a serious headbutt to Cotto's face too in the 2nd or 3rd round to which Cotto looked at the ref like "wtf?" followed by a nice low blow from Margarito a minute later. I give no credit to Margarito as a known cheater and look forward to the rematch.
