I think Margarito could be that thorn on Cotto's side or like the old saying goes, "He could just have his number". But there are some things to consider.
Watching the first fight several times, I can say Cotto made mistakes in that fight. It seemed as if he was going for the kill too early not realizing how durable Margarito was (at that point), and seemed a bit over confident. I'm one who believes Margarito was packin heat in his wraps in that fight, but you can't solely rely on that as to why Cotto lost (and I'm a big Cotto supporter). Cotto couldn't seem to deal with Margarito's pressure as the fight progressed (rounds 7 and on) and much of his defense was him covering up on the ropes (bad move against a pressure fighter).
I think this time around, Steward needs to implement a great game plan for Cotto, and I think Cotto will be more focused that he's ever been. It's a huge opportunity for him to get that dark cloud over his career which made his career go in a completely different direction than originally planned.
Going into this rematch, we have to consider the following:
How damaged is Margarito after the beating from Pacquiao?
Will Cotto's mental game effect him positively or negatively when under pressure?
Who's corner will be pivotal down the stretch?
I expect yet another epic fight. Without question one of the most anticipated rematches in years. Boxing fans win either way.
