If 1M ppv buys are generated everytime pac fights, then he does boxing a big favor of keeping it alive & not what this writer is insinuating. The downfall of boxing is the cowardice of mayweather to face pac, the boring fights like pascal-hopkins, & the running mouth-cry-baby jmm ;> Boxing becomes exciting if fighters keep throwing hard punches till the last round despite getting hit a lot... that's pac ;>

JMM will be destroyed by pac at 147 in 3 rounds. He couldn't beat a drained pac, how does he plan to beat a super pac in his most comfortable weight where he can eat anything, anytime which results to his nearly perfect condition ;>

    Berto who?

Pacman vs Mosley is already a done deal fight .....I think Marquez should move up in weight and fight Berto, the other candidate for Pacman sweeptake, and make a statement that he's worthy challenger for Pacman in higher weight...Marquez must not go down at 135 and fight faded and shot Morales...Don't throw Berto name as a true contender for Pacman fight than Mosley..Marquez should fight Berto and make a statement...He hasn't yet proven himself competitive at higher weight..

BS Bob at it again. This fight is going to be ugly, I hope this isn't the fight that reintroduces boxing to the non cable networks suh as abc, cbs and the like. It would not help the sport. Eventually someone's going to have to stop it, manny won't put mosley to sleep and mosley won't be counted out. That could be dangerous.

Gbp better watch out with canelo. Don't rush him. These names being thrown about are increasingly risky for your TWENTY year old.

        Guerrero beats katsidis. Nice matchup.

Damage Control and Hype Building Lessons

"Ladies and Gentlemen, you are now rocking with the best" (Swizz Beats Voice)!

That intro should be intro to every Bob Arum speech because he is the best at molding weak minds. There are a few stratgies at work here:

          1) Damage Control:
Bob Arum knows the public is aware of Mosley deteriorating state, so he has to offer up some excuses in hopes we can look past Mosley's 2 performance. He makes the excuse that Shane was coming off a long layoff. The then he magnifies Shane's "one" highlight against Mayweather. The purpose of doing that was to seed the notion that Mosley will somehow be in better condition against Manny (even though there was no catchweight when he fought Mayweather)- so just imagine what he will/can do to Manny. In the process of over emphasizing his point, he lied to add to more emphasis to the point by saying "he is the only fighter in all of Mayweather's career that ever had Mayweather in trouble." Sorry Arum, that's a lie, Chop-Chop Corely smashed Mayweather with a nice overhand right that made Mayweather drift back to the ropes!

"I can sell Mosley because I know Mosley can perform. As far as his fight with (Sergio) Mora, anybody who is responsible for that fight should be shot. None of our matchmakers would have made that fight. Mora just stinks people out." This is another farce. The only way a fighter can STINK YOU/ANYONE out is if your boxing skills ALLOW him to. Mosley look horrible during that fight because he's not a great boxer and Mora was keeping Mosley off balance with his length. Mosley doesn't have the skill-set to overcome that, plain and simple.

Keep in mind, that Bob Arum is now singing a new tune because he's has to now SELL the fight. Arum was downplaying any idea of a Pacquiao/Mosley fight when Mosley was allied with Golden Boy by stating "No one wants to see Mosley fight Manny because his last two performances and he'll be 40!" But my oh my, now you're singing a new tune.

          Hyping The Fight
"Pacquiao only knows how to fight one way, throwing punches, and that is good for Mosley because he doesn't have to expend energy chasing his opponent," Arum said. Pacquiao did not stand toe-to-toe with even the likes of Margarito. Following the game plan of Roach, Manny slipped in and out with jabs and fast power shots all night long. With Mosley being the perceived "more dangerous" fighter, there's no way in hell Manny is going to go toe to toe with Shane- especially since Shane has had problems facing slick fighters. Expect whatever hype building pseudo-documentary that precedes the fight to make this notion it's hallmark. Whether it's HBO 24/7 or something similar, the writers will focus on the notion that Manny likes to exchange and will possibly be KO'd out by Shane.

          Discrediting Marquez
"As good a fighter as Juan Manuel Marquez is, they are in two different weight classes," Arum said; Marquez is lightweight champion, Pacquiao-Mosley will be at welterweight. "I saw both of the first fights they had and the bigger, stronger Pacquiao now would annihilate Marquez. And all of you guys would say, 'Oh, he grabbed the money,' and it would be a two, three-round fight. - Nice reverse psychology Arum, spoken like a true defense attorney. Manny faced bigger, stronger Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, De La Hoya and beat them all and one thing was common determining factor in those wins besides catch-weighting and that's Manny's boxing skill. It doesn't matter if they're bigger, boxing skill- the sweet science prevails. Marquez fought Floyd and was annihilated because Floyd is the best boxer on the damn planet. His overall talent is far beyond Marquez. Manny has not proven this through his opponents since Marquez in 2008. Yes Manny is bigger and magically stronger now, but the stand in front of him opponents he's fought since Marquez in 2008 were hardly tests of his alleged better boxing skills.

Think of this; because of Mayweather's unparalleled skill set, talent and speed, many by and large believe Pacquiao can't beat Floyd given his troubles against a great boxer, twice, in Marquez and the fact Manny has not faced anyone as technically sound as Marquez since their 2nd bout in 2008. Even with all of that being said, fans still want them to fight because boxing is a PROVE IT IN THE RING SPORT and not a DEBATE TEAM SPORT.

Somehow, magically, this basic boxing principle does not apply to Manny. Fans automatically assume Manny would "destroy" Marquez now and therefore totally dismiss any possibility of a 3rd bout between them as a waist of time. It's amazing that a fighter can be so beloved that all he has to do is say he can beat someone he won't be questioned about it. This logic is what Arum is leaning on to justify and discredit Marquez' two performances against Manny.

The Money Situation: Cleverly, Arum is taking the focus off Marquez' performances against Manny and leveraging weight class instead. Instead of focusing on the truth of how Marquez' style gives Manny problems, Arum is claiming Juan's loss at the hands of Floyd is based on his inability to perform at the welterweight level. Keep in mind, that Juan fought Floyd Mayweather Jr... not Joe Welter Weight. The talent and skill difference between Floyd and Marquez are so wide, it wouldn't matter if they were the same weight when they fought FLoyd still would have been too much for Marquez. So now, Arum is discrediting Juan's already humiliating performance against Floyd and is somehow attempting to convince boxing fans that Marquez needs to go on a trial into the welter weight class to prove he's worthy to fight Manny.

At the end of the day, I don't blame Bob, or Manny or Roach. I blame YOU the boxing fan. Why? Because you've convinced yourself that "Arum is just going to do what the hell he wants to do." When the fact of the matter is, Arum can't do anything the boxing fans won't allow him to do. Stop buying these bull**** fights.

Check out Measuring Manny: A 2pt series that examines whether or not Manny has really gotten better as a boxer since his last fight with Marquez in 2008, and whether or not the quality of his opponents measure of the the skills of Marquez.

Bob Arum is the biggest bs in the business. What do you think that the public is ****** you friggin dumb asssssss? He just wants Marquez to fight Berto so they can see how much of a threat Bero would be to Pacquiao. And also to say the fight between Mosley and Pacquiao is going to be at welterweight is complete crap because it is going to be at some catchweight. If I ever see Arum in person I will punch him in his ****** face.

I like how Bob basically said he doesn't know enough about Berto to put Pac in with him. Meaning he hasn't shown any signs of being a subpar fighter. Berto's undefeated record along with his WBC Belt is enough when compared to Mosley. Two champions in one weight class and you have to ask if they should fight each other? What a f**king joke Arum is. Bashing Mosley just earlier this year (because Mayweather beat him) and now all of a sudden Mosley's this stellar prime fighter from the early 90's? Sad part is these f**king fan boys buy into it like the contradicting simpletons that they are.

Be a real fan and question the motives of Team Pac. Its not about fighting the best. Its not about the sport and its not about giving the fans what they want. Pac hand selects certain fighters at certain weight classes at certain weights. In these last few cases its been subpar "selected" fighters vs Clottey, Margarito and now Mosley. Yet Bob questions the undefeated WBC WW Champion in Berto and says JMM will get beat up? I also like how Bob basically validated what Mayweather has said and called Pac a one dimensional fighter just to suit his agenda at this current time for this fight vs Mosley who everyone knows is "OLD". He basically said Pac will just stand there for Mosley and that Pac doesn't have defense so Mosley as old as he is will be able to hit him as he hit Mayweather twice. lol twice out of a 12 round fight and that validates that Mayweather almost lost and makes it worthy for Pac to fight Mosley now (IN 2011)?

Bob is one hypocritical lying POS.... Such a disappointment in Pac

When it comes to Hopkins Pascal.... Pascal should rematch Dawsona and winner faces Hopkins.

Pwill will be back! He's still a champ! I still would like to see Mayweather fight him or Martinez.

Did Arum just admit that a smaller fighter gave Pacquiao his two toughest fights?

Looks like its Pacquiao whose been fighting smaller guys all these years, hmmmm..

I like the idea of Marquez vs Berto. Since we obviously have no choice but to see Pac vs Mosely, let Marquez fight Berto (if they can agree on a weight) as an eliminator to who gets to fight Pac next.

But realistically, since it was Arum who suggested it, I seriously doubt that Oscar would entertain the idea. In some twisted egotistical way, Oscar would probably view that as "doing whatever Bob says", and would NEVER want it to appear that way, even if it makes logical sense. So more then likely, the mere fact that Bob Arum suggested it means it will never happen. Ooooh egos.... aren't they grand?
