Khan does not have good footwork. He backs up in straight lines way too often, and not by design, as he doesn't do anything good when he gets on the ropes. He was getting the ring cut off on him by Maidana, whose ring-cutting abilities won't ever be confused with J.C. Chavez or George Foreman.
He is reasonably fast on his feet, however you have a point that Khan does not have a good generalship
