I've been on Nelo....but this is ridiculus......

I saw a video of ODLH talking about Nelo being the next big thing atta Mex....having a "rock star" following....and 2011 being his "coming out year"......Im good with that....I can get with that.......but then he compared him to JCC.......

Is ODLH and GB out they effin' mind??? do ya'll know what kinda pressure that is going to put on a 19 year old who for all intended purposes is running on "potential"

That's like going up to the next hot kid atta college hoops and telling the world he is the next Jordan..........

Or the next big QB in college and proclaiming he is the next Joe Montana....

I mean really??? why in the hell would you put that on Nelo?? I don't get this tactic by ODLH and GB...why?....

Hey, Canelo can make it BIG. He's only 19 years old and has already shown potential.

It's called promoting fights. I don't understand why you guys still don't understand the business aspect of boxing.

Canelo is one of the future stars of GB and he is being hyped up. What do you want GB to say?

It's the same when some promoter says this next fight is going to be a "war" or an amazing "battle" when in reality we know what to expect.

It's all part of promoting and DLH is doing what he's supposed to do.

GBP is just doing their job, which is promoting. What do you expect them to tell the Mexican people, he's the next Panchito Bojado? It's pretty simple, actually.

Completely disagree....and because I understand the business aspect of boxing and promoting I say what I say.......there are tons of ways to promote your guy without adding to the pressure he already has placed upon him by just the fact that he is good.......you can promote hype up and build up your guy but one there is a saturation factor and two you can start to creep in your own guy's psyche to the point where you can affect him adversely by placing so much pressure on him to have to live up to a certain expectation.....

Here is an example of both one in the NBA would be Kwame Brown.....this kid came out of HS with all the hype and endorsements and he imploded.....kid never had a chance......another example??

              Ryan Leaf......yeah nuff said.....

Lebron is a perfect example of saturation......Lebron went from hero to hated in 2.5.....nother example????

The Jets are another group of kats who were misfits ragtag dudes that through hype and word of mouth now have the highest expectations and anything less than a superbowl win would be a failure they are 10-4.....and if they don't make it their whole season was a bust?

what you fellas fail to understand is that there is a right way and a wrong way to "promote" your star player/fighter/etc

and in my opinion making comparisons between Nelo and arguably THE greatest sport hero in Mexican history at this stage of his career.....is a bit pre-mature.....to say the least........
