    Great amateur though 100-0.
holmes was pretty formidable at that age and skilled, a la lennox.

i think there's other evidence of spinks skiilset, he won the title in his 17th pro fight against a credible guy in eddie mustapha

we're not talking about overhyped here, we're talking about skills.

      OK, define skill.

Being able to throw every punch in the book, have great hand and foot speed...yes?

Does that make him the most skilful opponent that Tyson ever fought? Does power, strength, chin, heart and ring mastery also come into it. Lets redefine the term, the best boxer Tyson ever fought.

Was it Spinks, of course not, you know that. No one is saying Spinks wasn't a good fighter but he never achieved his potential did he, therefore in all round boxing skill I don't feel Spinks was the best Tyson faced.

1.Roy Jones JR.(fought in a very weak division and went up to HW to fight the weakest of the bunch)2.Tito Trinidad (Solid welterweight but not like anyone but old men were left)

3.Floyd Mayweather JR. (has managed to avoid EVERY tough fight since 135lb)

4.James Toney (NEVER won a big fight in his LIFE)

5.Mike Tyson (When anyones level of skill was above Spink's it was basically over)
I disagree with those!!! Roy was not over-hyped he beat hopkins with a fractured hand, Smacked up James Tony, beat Lou Del Valle to unifiy the WBO & WBC, then beats Reggie Johnson to unify WBO, WBC, an IBF! I mean to say he's overrated is kinda harsh, could he have faced better compition in his career? Yea but non the less how he dominated ppl with the speed an power he had its hard to say he's overrated, cause IMO A Prime Roy could beat any1 in boxing HOF MiddleW8 or Light Heavyw8

Floyd I can c y u put him up there but! I stil disagree and here's is y: Floyd is probably the most gifted fighter I've ever seen(N NO! Im not a floyd fan Im a str8 boxing fan) Floyd has face great compitition in his early days when he was pretty boy floyd, he has fought the best then, but now it all about $$$$$$ which yes is sad but at the end of the day floyd has the skills to make a great fight such a Mosely look bad( N plz dont tell me that Mosley was washed up cause he had just KO'd Margarito prior, give floyd his propz for taking the fight when a lot of ppl thought he would duck him again) but he made shane look bad it wasnt that shane got old he just couldn't make the adjustments he needed too to beat floyd)Ppl h8/thinks he's overrated cause he talks alot of ****, which ppl wanna c u prove that ur the best but IMO right now Floyd is the best fighter as far as all around, not thats not to say he cant b beat but in any opponet u match up with floyd a true student of boxing would say floyd wins based on what he could do an the adjustments he makes thru-out the fight. Tho Floyd hasnt face the ppl who we want him to face you cant deny how he makes adjustment and make his oppenents look bad.

Tyson I felt could have been the most dominate brawler in boxing history if he had the right ppl in his corner the whole time, Tho Tyson may hav not fought the greatest of fighters, you cant deny the way he KO'd ppl and the sheer power and quikness he possesed. IMO How he dominated ppl overshadows the talent he face.

Spinks was unquestionably a great fighter, but merely a good heavyweight.

Still don't really like how casual fans remember him for the Tyson massacre and not what he did in a terrific LHW era.
