    Micky Ward is about as authentic a man as you possibly could meet.

    Sounds a shame for the inaccuracies in the film, either way I'm going to see it. Micky deserves some recognition for his never-say-die attitude.

      Whether it is a true story or fiction, Movies are meant for entertainment!

      The Movie - The Fighter will certainly promotes Boxing;

      It has been said that the lead Actor was inspired by Pacman!

        Saw the movie. Christian Bale and Melissa Leo should win best supporting Oscars. I would think the Gatti trilogy was left out because the story is about the family, not just about Ward. And in fairness to the director, while the fight scenes in the movie looked pretty good, what can you possibly do with a movie camera and a boxing ring after Raging Bull? You are going to fall short or be derivative. It was a good call to end the story where he did.

          The author is right in pointing out the inaccuracies. There were many, and some seemed to not even make sense (as in, why would you even twist that fact).

          But all of that aside, it was a tremendous movie. And don't worry, the Gatti-Ward trilogy will come to the forefront when "Thunder" is made. Crossing my fingers....

            Yes, because Mark Wahlberg said he wanted to learn boxing by watching the BEST! He knows a true warrior when he sees one...

              U'r right, movies are made to entertain, but if it's suppose to be based on a true story then it should be as accurate as possible...If they are going to twist the story around & add this & take away that then it's not a true story..They should just say the movie is based on a true facts, but that the story has been slightly changed around..Sort of like the movie "Casino" that it was based on things that really happend but the story line was changed around..

                  Christian Bale is buff for Batman, yet managed to look like a drug addict.

                  Yet that vile mother****er Mark Wahlberg couldn't get down to 140-147. Everybody he boxed looked bigger than Josh Clottey bull****.

                    Its BASED on a true story meaning that that story is the base it derived from-- a set of people and events that already took place of which te script is developed from. I know noithing about film, but I know that in order to survive in hollywood you have to be a little fake... NO?? JUST SAYING...
