I am a Khan fan but I have to say his defense is poor. What is concerning is that under 2 years of Roach training you would expect it to be a lot better but his upper body movement is static and he does not react well to the shots being thrown.

he was getting caught with the same punches thru out the fight, over hand right, uppercut, right hook... what point was he trying to prove? no defense?
he's a good offensive fighter with the combinations, footwork and a stiff jab yea but, what happens if he gets caught again? he doesn't know how to protect himself or fight in the pocket, he's dead if he starts to coast/tire or somebody lands a big shot on him.Last edited by John Barron; 12-18-2010, 09:00 AM.Comment

his defense is dreadful for where he should be rite now. i think he's very similar to zab judah in a lot of ways. his offense is better because his combos are more crisp than judahs but his defense is static, at least judah had the ability to react when a punch was coming towards his face, not so much khan. its very amateurish. with a fighter like him, u dont move your head+u drop your hands+and u cant fight going backwards= doom.Comment

Khan took the majority of the shots when he wasn't being offensive. By far, the most frequent punch that Maidana landed was the uppercut, and these came when Khan was trying to cover up on the ropes. The reason he was on the ropes was his footwork. He may have fast feet, but footwork is more about foot placement, and Khan really needs to work on that.
Also, when Khan got seriously hurt in the 10th, he wasn't trying to trade. He was simply jabbing and moving to his left when Maidana came over the left jab with an overhand right. Maidana landed a similar shot in round 7, but not as flush.Comment
