He had made over 30 Million pounds in purses alone going into his fight with Barrera. He was very well known in the states from what I remember.

Edit: Kevin Kelley wasn't old, and as I recall Naz beat the **** out of him and knocked him out. What fight were you watching where he went life and death?

Barrera was a very good fighter but there is no question that Naz was not at his best that night and had no hunger for the sport. He was done mentally and didn't really care about boxing.
Kelley was a part time announcer and dropped Naz in his US debut.

Yeah after going down 3 times and looking like a baby deer learning to walk. Kelley was his "showcase" fight where he was SUPPOSED to knock the guy out and look like a monster. He looked alot worse then he was supposed to against an aged fighter looking for a pay check.

Anytime Naz gets hit it looks worse than it is. He keeps his hands low, and his head straight up, and he rolls with the punches without moving his feet, he just leans. It's shocking he didn't go down a few times in every fight. Most of the time when he went down it was from being off balance, not a legitimate knockdown where he was rocked and his legs were taken away.

He beat the **** out of Kelley and knocked him out in the 4th round.

technical knock downs yes cause his gloves touched canvas but hardly the knock downs he inflicted on Kelly i.e. on his ass. I think someone else put him on floor as well as he was leaning back low and got tagged. He got up and kayod him. As a matter of fact I cannot remember Naz ever being hurt in any of his fights and his knockdowns were flash-knockdowns.

Hamed was so good he just relied on pure athletism and still knocked out over 90% of his opponents.
