Im always amazed at how popular he is over seas. Very few people in the US even gave the guy a second look. We all saw what was going to happen when he fought someone good after he went life and death with an ancient Kevin Kelly.

Maybe so, but for Barrera he was definitely not hungry as he use to be.

            I still enjoy his style.

I remember when Naz was at the height of his popularity and he was very popular with me, my family and everybody that I knew. He wasn't like a Tyson or Ali, but he was bigger than guys like Barrera and Morales....

He had made over 30 Million pounds in purses alone going into his fight with Barrera. He was very well known in the states from what I remember.

Edit: Kevin Kelley wasn't old, and as I recall Naz beat the **** out of him and knocked him out. What fight were you watching where he went life and death?

Barrera was a very good fighter but there is no question that Naz was not at his best that night and had no hunger for the sport. He was done mentally and didn't really care about boxing.

Naz was a great lil fighter, came across as an arrogant pr1ck but a lot people didn't understand that he was tongue-in-cheek and mischievous majority of the time. He hooked me on to boxing as I used to be casual fan of boxing before that. Whether you like him or hate him you cant deny his style was electric and he had really good power in either hand. I agree by the time he got to Barerra who is an ATG, he just relied on his power to knock people out instead of training and discipline that is required at that level. The guy was a multi-millionaire at a young age and he had just lost the hunger for the game. I think one of the worts mistakes he made was getting rid of Brendan Ingle who had trained him since age 7. I remember the fight against Barerra and you could tell Naz just had not even thought about a plan B never mind have 1 and taking no credit from Marco, he had the perfect plan to beat someone like Naz.

This guy was great to watch. I still remember seeing that fight he had where he entered the arena on a flying carpet. lol
