Damn that's a shame. He never looked great but he seemed like a pretty nice guy outside of boxing. Last I heard was when he left these shores on an American crusade.

Boxing at the top may never be there, but if you actually go to small events that cost 40 dollars or 25 UK pounds, there are plenty of people from all over the world that fight for little.

The York Hall for exmaple has people from Ireland, England, all over Eastern Europe, Africa etc...

Boxing will never die, and even if it is not as big, it doesn't matter to the core fans and people who box, because they can still earn a living.

Pacquaio and Mayweather is not boxing, and PPV numbers is not boxing.
Boxing is so much more than that.

"After Pac retires, Boxing will die."

Lulz, they said that about Tyson.

There is certain truth to it nowadays. It may not be dying, but it has certainly become stagnant.

Nowadays it's a big deal to make a Million dollar purse and sell 10K tickets.

It was 24 years ago that Leonard and Hagler fought for a 26 millon dollar purse. I don't even think there was PPV revenue at the time. I could be wrong but even if there was it was less than $10 per. Closed circuit TV was probably the best way to see it and you probably had to pony up $5.

If you'd adjust that for inflation and consider it would sell outsell any Mayweather or Pac fight at the gate and on the PPV the fight would have been worth 60-70 million.

Boxing just isn't at that level of the public consciousness anymore.

WWE was the same way back in the 90s. They sold 400k-600k a month. A MONTH. Then once the great guys started leaving, the PPV numbers went down to the point where now it's at 90k. Remember this is a FAKE sport.

What happens when Shogun, Anderson, Penn and all the good strikers retire and the sport is being controlled by wrestlers? What's gonna happen then? Also, do you honestly think UFC 125 is gonna do more than 200k?

I don't think boxing will ever die, it's just going through a rough patch the past few years.

First of all UFC 125 will do just find considering the day it's on and the influx of new weight classes. Will it be the most successful? No! but it will do good consistant numbers.

And the UFC has plenty of up and comers. GSP is still very young and very popular. The heavyweight division has a some good up and coming strikers as well as other division such as the LHW that has an amazing talent in John Bones jones. The featherweight divisions and Bantamweight divisions are full of great young talent.

I don't think you know enough about the UFC to really make a coment.
