i always thought griffin lost to toney in the rematch, but he gave roy a hell of a fight in that first fight...

I had Griffin winning his first fight with Toney. I havent watched their rematch, I tried but its just too boring

griffin only talked about the shoulder move he did on jones, but that was a foul and i thought he fought quite dirty

I think that was the only foul he committed in that fight

...to jones credit, i don't think he complained much, but i think thats what prompted jones to sock him with the two shots when his knee hit the canvas

toney went into obscurity after the griffin rematch...became totally unmotivated...griffin did the shoulder foul and rabbit punched plenty in jones 1...still when all is said and done, he got ktfo in the rematch...

True. His career never really recovered from that lose either. I got around to watching Griffin Tarver and during the commentary Merchant says the only Griffin fight people remember is Jones-Griffin II

Man, the warming up thing in the rematch is bad, it seems very possible, and it hurt his career. Btw I also agree with the poster who said he lost the Toney rematch, it wasn't even close. I remember watching his first fight against Jones and yes he gave Roy some problems, and the foul was awful, I don't even know why the hell Roy raised his arms, it was obvious it wasn't a legit win.

Unless there is another test that I missed, Montell needs to shut up about the steroid issue with Roy. Roy tested position for Androstenedione. At the time it was a legal prohormone. He claimed he didn't take it, but did take Ripped Fuel. The company that made Ripped Fuel(Twin Labs) had LOTS of problems with cross contamination of Andro in Ripped Fuel & Roy's opponent tested positive for the very same substance. Andro was BARELY anabolic and wasn't much of a performance enhancer, even in high doses, so why would he take that, when there were lots of real steroids out that worked 100x better? Its a no brainer for me. He brings this up all the time and conveniently forgets the circumstances around him testing positive.

roids wont turn you into the super humans punching machine, at best they can give you a strength advantage..but you still gotta make weight. The supp he took wasn't going to make him 3 times faster like Montell is acting.

Not just possible....more like a certainty. This is boxing where only the star matters and where stars are, money follows. The amount of careers ruined with BS like that is incalculable. But, this stuff is very, very common in boxing. It happens in small fights for a prospect, hometown hero fights to the big daddios running the show and the whole lot is ****ed and sadly a major part of boxing.

Please....for anyone that honestly is simply too naive to believe that did happen, and is thinking of responding harshly, grow up. I've seen that type of stuff happen over here in locker rooms countless times. ****** things, petty things, small things....that are actually all very big things....Sad.
