In my opinion they cant, there is something about loosing that will make you more fierce than ever, because it will ignite the fire that you dont want to loose again......

If I think about it my all time favorite fighters have losses and came back more fierce like champions do!

    examples
    Hagler
    Hopkins
    Pacquiao

    Of course.

You can't knock a guy for getting the job done the first time.

Now if a fighter is only undefeated because he's getting gifts and fighting soft touches, then it's a different story.

You're only as great as the competition you face. The consensus Greatest Fighter of All Time has losses on his resume.

What do you mean by legit champion? Of course you can be a champion with no losses. I don't get the question.

I mean like a legit champion not a cherry picking tittle holder as many have, In other words like a Hagler at the beginning of his title reign when he got a draw, he was super better after that fight.. Or Pacquiao that super strengths his core because he dosent want to be knocked out by a body punch like that...

See a real champ will fight the best out there and if gets a loss and comes back more fierce or better than before and dominates, it would be proof of what Im talking about

So RJJ wasn't a champion when he did things like go beat John Ruiz or when he beat Toney or BHop...wasnt a champion then?

Do you think Vitali is better, equal or worse of a champ because he lost to Lewis and Bird. In all honesty I dont think it makes one bit of a difference other than the way people percieve him as less and the critics have more ammo against him.

So Marciano didnt have fire because he hadn't lost?

                  Floyd Mayweather isnt a champion?

The greatest fighter of all time, Joe Calzaghe, has no losses. I think theres 10x more of achance that after a loss a fighter loses the fire and the confidence. This thread doesnt even make sense to me. So like the UCONN girls bball team that hasnt lost in like 3 years, theyre nto champions because theyre undefeated?

Is this like a Chinese riddle or something like, "You cannot win for yourself unless you lose whats outside of yourself" or something like that?

Well in that case I'd still say yes. Mike Tyson was a legit champion before losing. Losing to Buster Douglas didn't make him a legit champion.

It's not about winning or losing, it's about fighting the best available. It just so happens that you're more than likely going to lose when you fight the best available. However if you fight the best available and manage to stay undefeated, you'd still be considered a legit champ.
