I'm not twisting in the wind right now as to who won the fight. Definitely it was khan, he was supposed to. But the main issue here is if the khan hype really lived up to its, well, hype. That fight showed how the combination of glass-chin and feather-fist is a disaster waiting to happen. It would've been acceptable if Khan didn't sold himself as the other one to beat Floyd, or he's at Pac's level. That fight showed that Khan-hype is just that, a hype.Comment

Wtf
How are people giving such "Props" to Khan? He was the champ and in the Championship Rounds, he was beaten. he did great in the first couple of rounds, no doubt. But the fight wasn't 6 rounds. He was taken a lot of punishment in the later rounds and I dont care what you say, Cortez should've stopped the Fight. Khan now talks he wants to fight Mayweather? Is he out of his mind. It's just a shame that boxing fans are truly rooting for this guy only cause he's on Pac's Team. Maidana deserves a Re-match. And if Khan is so good, he woulda dropped this guy. When u put the pressure on a guy and drop him like he did, why let up? He coulda put him away...u know why he didnt? cause he's really not that good...get off Pac's balls guy, this guy is another Ricky Hatton.Comment

Khan dominated the fight up until the 10th round, maidana then dominated the 10th, 11th and 12th
taking a lot of punishment in late rounds? he took it in one round only, did you watch the fight? get the fk out of hereComment

Dominated the last rounds? You were obviously on some Kush. Cause there was no such domination. But being ******ed and having an extra chromosome i see things differently. He turned it on for 20 seconds of each round at the end, all the while hanging on to the guys arm. Khan won the fight, hands down. Unless your on the Wild Card Stable's ****, you know he wasnt so impressive. I was rooting for Khan the whole way, and actually thought he was a real good fighter. But he's not that great, being a boxing fan you should know this.
Give him props for winning, but impressive? I really dont think so man.Comment

The question of why may present an uncomfortable, double edge sword.
I offer the following as an observation, not an attempt to stir a hornets nest.
The United States sports fan may still have too many issues at present with the ****** world to elevate Khan to superstar status, at least at this moment.
Combine this theory with a poor economy and Amir cannot gain the same respect in the U.S as say, super combative and super white Ricky Hatton.
Saddam Ali may be the best pro prospect in the world, yet he was recently relegated to the undercard of Adamak/Maddalone. If I were in the business of building stars, I would invest in Ali.
That being said, Amir has the obvious propensity of tiring down the stretch and if Maidana had been fresher, the contest would have ended by stoppage or KO.
If they put Khan in soft with Judah next, it is an earned walk in the park with a name fighter who cannot land a bomb.
That tenth round was either a career defining or career ending three minutes.
He was battered soundly for three straight minutes. Often, a round such as that only softens a sweet spot, not toughen it up.
Finally, HBO was obviously attempting to get to their hailed documentary "Lombardi" quickly and on time after the battle.
The initial "Lombardi" airing outdrew the fight 2-1 fot a Saturday, prime time, four hour slot.
This indicates that the football/documentary audience bailed out after 9:30 leaving Khan to the boxing fans who did not come out in droves for this one.
The live gate was only $600,000 and due to Khan's fee was a losing prospect for HBO from jump street.
That is partially why HBO opted out of the Hopkins fight. Showtime had a healthy season and gave Bernard a large payday. Funny how Golden Boy had no problem with that. Saul Alavrez best learn how to throw hands with guys born in the mid 80's if Oscar is going to stay in the game.
Next year looms ahead in an ominous fashion. If HBO actually drags Pacquiao/Mosely down the aisle on April 16, it will open the years first quarter with the lowest PPV numbers of any Manny contest. How do even the most creative cable minds build a 24/7 program out of that trash?
True pro boxing is in danger of being renamed Lonesome Town.
Marquez in Dallas is a sellout. Mosely in Vegas is a retread we can all live very well without. Anyone who pays $55.00 bucks for this is a sadist in search of the spectacle of a severe beating or deserves one for supporting promoters who engage in horrid matchmaking.Comment

Nah, you know how it goes. Cortez would allow all the holding, butting and grappling in that fight. That's what makes him so corrupt and so ****ing awful. He just goes with whatever he's told to go with, which is usually killing the non star/non US fighter with corrupt refereeing.Comment
