ive seen the fight twice and both times all i noticed was ortiz holding back when he shouldnt have.. and also frustrated and its because he mostly threw power punches and no jabs at all.. he needs to learn how to set up his power..

Ortiz had a BIG weight advantage and his punches were heavier than Peterson's were, he had to run to avoid a ko loss. I fel a lot of people wrote Peterson off after the Bradley loss and especially after his brother lost, it was like people had the two guys confused. I saw a bunch of Peterson is a scrub commenting and that Ortiz would blow him out of the water. I knew Peterson was very good and, to me, it was more of an insult to Bradley's abilities. He dusted Peterson for 90 percent of the fight and outclassed him and I guess people thought Peterson was a bum after that and Bradley was just an average fighter who beat a crappy fighter.

Bradley is gonna do the same thing to Alexander in January...point is: Peterson is a great fighter, so is Ortiz, Bradley is on another level.

It was a draw. Ortiz had 4 or 5 rounds where he didn't do anything whatsoever and that cost him the fight.

Another thing that happened after the Maidana fight is that he has changed his style too much. His great strength is his speed, power and his general skills. For a ****er with speed he has good boxing ability but he uses it really, really badly. He squares up way too much and is wide open for counters. He doesn't set up his shots with combinations enough, paws with his jab too much and bounces around with so much useless it's not funny. The most frustrating thing in that Peterson fight was him bouncing around, wasting movement and energy by moving around uselessly instead of using his movement to set up Peterson into the position he needs him to be in.

He has gone too far from what made him good in the first place and now is moving around too much and not setting up his power shots properly. When eh does he wings in wildly and squares up too much just hoping for a big landed shot. He should go back to his puncher style more and use less footwork and make it count. Short lateral steps to get angles and make the other fighter reset etc. He also needs to fight more often to get the experience he still lacks.

In guys that fought every month or every other month, these little lack of experience things didn't happen because they fixed it instinctively through fighting. Obviously he's not going to be fighting every month or even every second month. The very least he fight though is four times a year at the moment. He's still so young and these lack of experience skills can only be fixed through fighting more. It's one of the biggest problems with fighters today though. So many lack the experience of the great older fighters and just will never achieve the same kind of skill overall.

Yeah man, Bradley is underrated. He has some great skill that most don't recognise. However, he is lacking a few important things which he can hopefully fix over time. Size is a problem for him which obviously can't be changed, but he needs to shorten up his punches and stop being so wild as he often gets. Also, if he could learn to sit down on his punches a little more sometimes during his combinations ie. throw fast shots and then end with one shorter power shot that he sits down on more he could hurt guys easier.

Either way, he will always be the guy to beat at 140 I think. I hope he can stay there for longer though. If he's having as much trouble with the weight as it seems he might, he might not be there much longer. I think fights with Khan, Maidana and Ortiz along with unifying the division will see him up there as the next Tszyu; that being a 140 great and one of the few fighters in the sport to genuinely rule over his class during a great period. Would be fantastic to see.

I agree completely.

I think Peterson had a lot of rust coming off a 8 month layoff.

Word was his management didn't want the fight because they wanted a tune-up first.

Peterson looked warmed up by the 5th round.

Not to mention that Ortiz got predictable.

Hes a sucker for the right hand.

Maidana proved as much.

You throw it enough and you can't miss.
